Who should run schools? Federal government, state government or local government?

There’s been a dramatic increase in the federal government’s involvement in public schools in America since the 1960’s, but public education has only declined since then. Who should be in charge of schools?
The federal government provides about 7% of the money required to operate schools.

DoE needs to be abolished. Local sourcing. A federal agency trying to shoe horn solutions that don't work everywhere is a disaster.

None of the above.
Government—at any level—doesn’t belong in education.

100%. Since its creation education has gotten worse by all measurable standards in the US.

Education should be completely privatized at the K-12 level and the government should only exist to provide vouchers for tuition
Everyone can have access to education without the government being involved in said education

I’m 100% for them getting rid of public schools altogether. Let parents figure out their own childcare.
I realize some families will spend zero money educating their kids and we’ll have lots of uneducated people running around, but is that different than what we have now. We’re not getting the return spent on public education.

Vouchers have already proven to increase costs and produce dumber students.

I’m for education only being private, but I don’t want to see public money being spent on parochial schools either. I don’t want to spend public dollars having kids learn about Yahweh, Muhammad, or getting dwiddled by a man in a dress wearing a crucifix. Religious education should exist outside of public funding.

I don't find anything in the Constitution that grants the federal government any authority whatsoever concerning education.

Hi Hank.
What’d you do to get banned this time?

I would be interested in seeing some research on this.
Philosophically, I like the idea of competition and charter schools, but I haven’t exactly been thrilled by the results I have witnessed to date.

No mention of airports, trains, space travel, mineral rights, and lots of other stuff but here we are.

So should parents who pay out of pocket for private education be forced to pay for other parents' kids public education?

Correct. Tyranny.

Nope, none at all

Sets minimum standards? Ranks schools so other schools can learn from the best?

Paid for by local people. Operated by local people. Oversight from elected local people.

I also attended K-12 public schools.
And I still believe education ought to be privatized.
Just my opinion; I understand other people think differently.

In a perfect scenario, those entities would be privatized as well.
