She absolutely loves football but she really wishes they would use aluminum bats instead of those old fashioned wood ones.

It's out of context, so I don't even know what she means. What exactly are Northerners supposed to do when they "pull up" on the South?
The last time they came for a visit it ended pretty badly for everyone involved. An estimated 700+K died and more of them were from the North than the South.
