I'm hoping Garrett Graves runs and gets revenge for that BS Landry pulled. He'd have my vote.

I’m not his biggest fan but he has brought a ton of jobs into the state. The Hyundai steel mill is a $6 Billion dollar mill that will employ 5,400 workers with an average salary of 80K per year. It’s the single largest economic project in the state in 20 years. Like him or not he is bringing jobs into the state.

Donaldsonville is about to become the Korean capital of the South.

Cash ($100m grant), free land ($1/year lease), and basically no taxes ($600m in exemptions and reductions) is a pretty strong incentives package.

Louisiana Republican Party is corrupted by a few who have their own interest at heart

Landry is aligned with them

If anyone can, it would be Graves. Landry has a lot of momentum, but there's still plenty of time for him to shoot himself in the foot between now and 2028.

Graves would have to hammer Landry on cancelling the diversion project and the implications to the greater South La region.

We have dumb voters. They all wanted him gone when Kelly got fired saying no football coach will ever come to LSU.

That's how people vote.

Practically any Graves would be better.

I don't see anyone beating him. Democrats don't have anyone on the bench who can win a statewide race in Louisiana, and the Republican state party apparatus isn't going be open to a challenger from the right. Hell...the state party sold out to him way before the primary.

Huey P Landry will be Governor for a second term. Trial lawyers and pogie fishermen rejoice.

Who can get enough backing to dethrone Landry?

I'm sure they're looking at running JBE again.

Likely won't be able to run. Legislature is about to pass a bill limiting governors to 2 terms and getting rid of the "consecutive" part. So you get 2 terms and that's it.

It will need to pass a statewide vote but I doubt that will be an issue.

That can be a pretty meaningless number depending on the circumstances. Gov. Landry's job approval rating being 43% doesn't mean that suddenly 57% of the voters in the state would pull the lever for Shawn Wilson in a head to head matchup, or that someone like Graves could pull enough of that 57% in the open primary to get a runoff between him and Landry.

You figure by default, if the Democrats have only one serious contender for them in that open primary, said candidate is going to pull at least a default 30%. That would leave Graves, or whatever other Republican challenger, with only a max of 27% from the folks who seemingly disapprove of Governor Landry. That means said Republican challenger doesn't make the runoff, and Landry survives. I don't care much for Huey P. Landry, but if the choice is him or Shawn Wilson, or him vs. say...Nungesser or Cassidy or Boustany, I'd have to pull the lever for Landry.

Recent polling number appear to have President Trump's approval ratings in the high 30s to low 40s. Doesn't mean that if Trump vs. Harris were to be re-voted tomorrow, that she'd win. Folks who disapprove with Trump 2.0's current job performance aren't all necessarily going to have an itchy trigger finger for a Commie Democrat from California who has never had a job outside of government her entire life.

Bill to limit governors to 2 terms fails to pass the House. JBE vs Landry ballot still a possibility (or likelyhood) for next election.
