There will probably be conflict between US and Russian foreign assets in Syria IF Putin decides to engage. But I don’t see direct conflict between the two nations.

He is a VERY wealthy man that stands to lose billions in a chaos scenario.....add to that the resultant poverty his people would experience would weaken his power.

Well all wars are economic. But if there is any action it will be between foreign assets or more proxy wars. The political implications of direct war would kill Putin. As it would Trump, too.
