SEC!

quote:

Which state actually lets you keep the most money in 2025?

The brand-new MERIC Q3 Cost of Living Index just answered it (national avg = 100):

10 CHEAPEST (all red/red-leaning):
1. Oklahoma 84.4
2. Mississippi 85.5
3. Alabama 87.9
4. West Virginia 88.1
5. Kansas 88.9
6. Arkansas 89.0
7. Missouri 89.1
8. Georgia 89.7
9. Tennessee 90.1
10. Texas 92.1

10 MOST EXPENSIVE (all Democrat-run):
1. Hawaii 179.7
2. Massachusetts 150.8
3. California 136.7
4. New York 134.5
5. Washington 121.9
6. Oregon 118.4
7. Maryland 117.2
8. Connecticut 113.8
9. New Jersey 113.5
10. Rhode Island 112.6

Same country, same inflation, same corporations — wildly different results.
If cheaper rent, groceries, and gas matter to you in 2026… why would you keep voting for the exact policies that created the most expensive states?

The title sounds like it is a state action (that is, "keep your money" = lower taxes). But cost of living is mostly driven by economics. Low cost of living state tend to be poorer. I mean does anyone really think Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama and West Virginia are the states we should be modelling?

A better standard is taxation. And there the SEC has some powerhouses like Tennessee and Florida.

Oh, I live in Maryland and would gladly love my vote to count in the way you describe.
Unfortunately it does not.

This is peasant talk.

Millionaires and billionaires pay little to no tax percentages. Location doesn’t matter.

The average effective tax rate for millionaires in the US is 23-25%.

frick off.

The US has the most unjust tax system in the world. The top 10% of wealth holders almost completely fund the federal government for everyone else.

The top 10 cheapest states also mirrors lists of top 10 poorest and top 10 for illiteracy.

Is there a correlation?

Yeah .... it's called falling for the stereotypical Hollywood and the MSM bullshite that they've been brainwashing the gullible masses with for decades.

Poorest is relative.

Illiteracy is a catchphrase.

Next you'll be saying that we’re all fat and black and toothless and inbred.

The writing is nonsense.
Ranking is for cost of living by state, however, the subject title and X post verbiage implies taxation.
I can keep almost all of my money as long as I don't spend it regardless of cost of living. I can't dodge a state income tax, but can dodge a sales tax.

You morons say this shite as if the left MSM has their hands up your arse controlling your mouth.

The top 1% in this country pay over 50% of the taxes. The middle class pay the remaining. At least 40% of the people in this country pay no fricking taxes at all. Want to guess who they vote for?

"lets you keep the most of your money" points more toward taxation than cost of living and in that case the states with the lowest overall tax burden (sales, income, property, and excise) taxes are shown here with the top half in order:

Alaska
Wyoming
New Hampshire
Tennessee
South Dakota
Florida
Delaware
North Dakota
Oklahoma
Idaho
Texas
Missouri
Montana
Alabama
South Carolina
North Carolina
Arizona
Michigan
Wisconsin
Georgia
Pennsylvania
Arkansas
Washington
Nevada
Colorado

Top 10 poorest US states

Not the exact same - but enough to wonder why these states would appear on the same lists.

Not trying to be an arse - legitimate question.

I still don't believe you.

Where is the list that you quote coming from? I don't see it in the thread, and there is no link?
