People on the left definitely indulge in the same practice but not nearly with the frequency. Literally every political ad that I've seen from the GOP in the last few weeks has been smear and scare. I've seen plenty of democrat videos that show them trying to help the community and blah blah blah.
At the end of the day in the GOP is much more Adept at trying to manipulate fear in their voter base to get a response
