Agreed. I wasn't rebutting your post. Just adding to.

If you sell vegetarian products and you want to take a public stand that eating meat is evil.............I suppose you can safely do that without being called a total idiot.

But, own a diverse menu restaurant and you want to take a stand that vegetarians are idiots, you might as well cut your nose off.......

Kinda like dicks trying to get rid of the second amendment. Retailers shouldn't boycott manufactures, that's for consumers to do

Does A&M use Adidas or Under Armour? Ohio State doesn't.

Was there ever an ad campaign, or was it an ad that was part of his deal with Nike?

Actions have consequences. For Kaepernick and for this gentleman.

It seems like the only "ad campaign" anyone ever saw was a press release of the ad campaign.

So it was supposed to be an actual ad campaign? I wonder what the hell they're paying him to do now.

I will say one positive thing the ad did. It sure has caused Nike to power their prices. It is amazing how much cheaper their shirts, caps, running are now.

Those kind of stores probably have a tiny profit margin, to try to compete with online sales and pay rent/employees, etc. And Nike probably is his biggest product. Not a smart business move. he probably should keep his business separate from politics the same way Nike should.

I have posted this before, but I have super liberal family that works in strategy for Nike in Portland. They knew about the Kaep deal nine months in advance since they were working on it. Internally they wanted to “stand” for something since they hadn’t in while. When I heard that I said to my cousin, “well y’all stood by Tiger”. And she laughed and said, that was literally exactly what the head of strategy said. Also Serena Williams is getting a giant dedication or wing or something on Nike’s campus and she was involved with it from almost Day 1. It was as much Serena’s project as anything else.

As far as sales, the Kaepernick buzz helped them on the coasts and in online sales. Online sales is something they dominate in and has been a huge boost for Nike. Moving forward they think the overwhelming majority of their sales will be direct online orders. Short term it was a huge success. Long term, that might be a little less clear. In the middle of the country, orders from the major retailers were down. Annual orders, which relate to shelf space and such were not advantageous. I really think Nike is going to pull back the campaign and make it regional not national. I can’t remember the last time I saw the Kaep ad in Dallas. DFW is the 5th largest media market, so we get all national campaigns, but I really think Nike doesn’t want to push this that much. They embraced the controversy in the short term but I bet it’s regional moving forward.

Anecdotal experience, I know some oil companies in Texas that have stopped using Nike for corporate gear. Personally, I have only bought Under Armour since this Kaep thing. Not that I feel strongly or like supporting boycotts, I mean I really don’t like what Kaep stands for but after being a fan of the Under Armour boxer jock for years, I felt it was a good time to branch out for the shoe game.

I ordered a pair of their casual shoes online for like 30 bucks and liked it so much I bought the same shoe in a different color. Google says it’s called the Street Encounter IV and it’s $36 on their website vs $60 on Dick’s website. Would highly recommend. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to anything else for casual shoes. Cheap, no laces, and it has held up well on dog walks.

Didn’t get the same luck ordering running shoes though. They are okay, but I will try a different brand for my next pair.

I love my pair. Thinking about ordering a backup pair just to keep in the top of my closet

So we are assuming the Nike boycott ended the store?

This is the real reason you should be boycotting. Educate yourselves. Its out there if you look.

He could have easily gone back on his stance and started selling Nike garbage again. Glad to see he stuck to his principles.

I haven't bought anything made by Nike for at least 10 years. The Kaepernick stuff made me stop even wearing Nike stuff that was given to me for free.
