Dont get to listen often. Got to listen for maybe 30 minutes today. Felt like it was mostly him pimping sponsors.

6 months ago. That's when I started noticing the 'rap arounds.'
Radio ads are composed of ad agency productions (national and local share time) and you have some 'talent rap arounds' which sounds like part of the program.
I know the length of each segment so when he starts with hawking a product during content time I turn off the radio and switch it back on 20 minutes later for the next segment.
Sometimes it goes like this:
5 minutes of commercials
10 minutes of Rush selling T-shirts
5 minutes of commercials
So, you have 20 minutes of zero content.

No, it hasn't. It's much worse now.

Out of his 3 hour show, Rush is probably speaking about political matters for 1 hour.

Yeah that’s what I hate about listening to any political radio station.
Like someone above described. I can handle the actual commercials. What I can’t stand are the commercials within the program when it takes a couple minutes before you realize it’s a commercial lol

Levin is the worst about that.

I really only listen for the opening music at 11:06, 12:06, and 1:06.
I'll start again once 2020 kicks up. Rush during an election year is some much listen radio.

The last 30 minutes is 20 minutes of commercials. It's been that way for a while. I don't mind that he bunches most of his commercials at the end of the show.

Listen to the opening segment. If he's on fire and goes long it's going to be a good show. If it's short and uninspiring it's not going to be a great show.

My wife listens to him religiously. She loves Rush but it got so damned bad with the commercials the past year or two she just listens to his podcasts now.

Rush has always been 100% commercials

I've listened to him off and on for the past 25 years or so and that's all it has ever been.

OP is exaggerating too. The opening segment typically runs from :06 to :22 (or :23 or :24), then 3 minutes of commercial, then 3-5 minutes to take you to :30. So right there is 22 minutes of program.
The 2nd half begins at :33 I think, and I know one of thos segments runs a good nine minutes, giving us 31 minutes of program already.
So with the other segments in the 2nd half-hour, that right there has to be at least 40 minutes of program.
I don't really count the first six minutes of the hour anyway.. my goal is to finish my shite up by :06 and indulge in some Rush!!

If you listened from 12:45-1:06 it would make sense. His typical hour is:
1:06-1:20
1:23:1:30
1:33-1:47
1:50-1:58
1:06-1:20
1:23:1:30
