I don't know. Maybe I'm being nitpicky, but it seems like they would normally say, "the Washington Post reports they have spoken to former classmates" rather than "claims to."

Umm.,so someone posting pictures wearing makeup isn’t at least enough to “suggest” he might be trans? If he were seen wearing a maga hat would it “suggest” he might be right wing?

Interesting that the media, including Fox News and Tucker, are sharing the "maybes and mights" that they learn about the shooter but not a peep about him wearing women's clothes.
Should be relatively easy for the media to confirm this.
