If any of yall have been keeping up with this story in more detail, please share.
News headlines are all over the place…
So was that the “big win” some of you here were talking about?
Is it a good deal, or no?
And Is that deal still on?

It's a win for everyone.

Giving Arabs the capabilities to have more advanced weaponry has never come back to bite us…

Who knows? Maybe. But a nuclear energy would allow them the opportunity to obtain nukes, eventually. In the future, if Saudi's radicals ever gain access to their nukes.....
Also, if Saudi gets nuclear energy, other ME countries will want it. Same potential problem.

No, unless they agree to recognize Israel as a country and agree to trade agreement. Probably an attempt to hedge against the possibilities listed above. IMHO

Trump lovers will love it.
Trump haters will hate it.
Most of both groups won’t understand it, but will be sure they are right about it.

Saudi Arabia was going to do this with our without the US' help and there wouldn't have been anything we could do to stop it short of starting another war that the TDS afflicted would have screamed bloody murder about.
And why would we stop them? The US is even open to Iran having limited nuclear technology for things like medical and energy production purposes. And this is no different.
So since it was going to happen anyways, the US decided to offer assistance. This way we get to make money, have oversight over the project, and get another key signatory to the Abraham Accords. So yes, this is a win for the US. People may not like it, but people are stupid.

FIFY.
Saudi Arabia has lots of money and can easily buy plans and hire people with the knowledge and expertise to design nuclear facilities to convert their civil grade uranium to weapons grade.
It will take a little while, but there's almost no chance they won't do it. They've already said they intend to acquire nukes if Iran gets them. And they've also refused to agree to international nuclear inspections.
What could go wrong?
But hey, Trump's son in law got his $2 Billion investment commitment from the Saudis, and Trump has been getting licenses from their government to put up all kinds of golf courses and hotels up over there, so what the frick?

Well, frick, using that logic, we can stop the Iran war today. All we have to do is give them some finished nukes.
Great idea, Einstein.

You would certainly know.

False equivalence and straw man.

Yes, I would. When posts like yours are brought to the board constantly stupidity is on full display to the world.

Considering the Saudis have been considered allies, it’s unclear what the motive is. I’ll set aside whether it’s a good idea or not for now.
It seems like 1 of 2 things is happening:
1. The Trump admin may be having second thoughts, and are adding in conditions after the deal was agreed to, in an effort to complicate the deal.
2. The Trump admin wants the deal, and really wanted to coerce a trade deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia, and used a little bait and switch to try to get the Saudis to agree.

How so?
Your premise was, "Well, they were going to do it anyway, so we decided to help them so that we can make some money."
What's the false equivalency?
Iran is going to keep trying to acquire active nukes. Everyone knows it.
So...?

And why would we stop them?

have oversight over the project,

and get another key signatory to the Abraham Accords.

Only thing I see wrong is their refusal for inspections.
We have helped many countries aquire nuke power ability. Iran being one of them. This is no different.
I do not however, wish to see another country have nuclear weapons. Pandora's box has been opened. Can we really stop it?

Saudi wants to enrich uranium and we want money. What is not to understand?

And we did in fact give them the tech to make nuclear power at that time

If the deal is happening. So basically everything besides that basic statement.

bullshite. Nobody else we've ever helped has been allowed to enrich uranium domestically as part of the deal.
quote:
Iran being one of them.
Yeah, before 1979. But again, the deal did not allow them to enrich uranium on their soil.
quote:
Can we really stop it?
Not if your pussy arse is in charge. You might have to use the "MIC."
Someone with a sack could. We're stopping Iran from doing it right now.

Had Biden done it instead of Trump, Trumpers would hate it.

Yes that’s correct. Things change over time.
