What's the Backstory Of How Portland & Seattle Became the 2 "Most Woke" Far Left Towns?

I know there's an Antifa & BLM presence in several cities, but we are seeing the most violence & anarchy in Portland and Seattle. Seattle gave us CHAZ/CHOP/CRAP, while Portland has a Far-Left nutjob Mayor who apparently isn't radical enough for the crazies who have taken over that city.
What exactly happened to turn Portland and Seattle into the anarchanistic hell holes that they are today? Any reason, or set of reasons, why or how this has happened to these two cities in the Pacific Northwest?

I hear they have good "education" over there.

Northwest progressives are a different breed. Anti-government, pro-gun, but they cry about class and lack of entitlements. I think it's a product of living in nature and growing up in the social media era where materialism has taken over the culture. Realize also, they are mostly middle to upper middle class white kids who were always provided for.

Oregon let a cult take over a small town in the 80's and it became a national story. Check out Wild Wild Country on Netflix.
They just seem to be prone to be taken over by nutjobs.

No doubt, but are they any different in that respect from Ann Arbor, Michigan or Madison, Wisconsin? Their educational system can't be any more radical than what they have in Berkeley, California.

Maybe just let both cities burn to the ground.

All of those Idiots left California in the 70's and 80's

I'm sure their drug and homeless friendly policies haven't helped.

Its where the Chinese influence operation took the greatest hold and where they were able to get radicals elected.

The Pac NW has always been a magnet for hippies and very independent-minded folk... the latter includes those who would probably fit in well on the TD poli board. Especially when you get into eastern WA/OR + Idaho.

Seattle has always been a smaller San Francisco.
Portland has a lot of remote workers that work for tech companies in San Francisco and Seattle. A lot of people priced out of San Francisco and LA have found their way there. About 30 years ago, it became a homeless utopia and started going downhill.
Oregon is a lot like Colorado. Big counties with little population. State's politics are dominated by a few cities.
That small dark blue sliver is Portland. The problem is 25 percent of the state lives there. It is the only place in the state that does not border a conservative county.
The largest conservative county is Linn. Population is 118,000. Corvallis (where Oregon State is) is just to the west on the border.
The state capital, Salem, is actually the conservative area two counties south of Portland.

The Rajeeneeshees? Those frickers did a failed bio-attack on the rest of the town in an attempt to take over via election.
People still died of infection but it didn’t have near the power they’d hoped.

Sounds like OR needs to be liberated. East OR would join ID in a heartbeat if they could

Birthplace of Grunge Rock music (if that can be considered music.) Is that the cause or a symptom of the political environment?

The dream of the 90s is still alive in Portland.

WA and OR have a fricky history when it comes to employment which may explain a lot.
Lots of seasonal employment and a bunch of logging and other operations which have been heavily disrupted by eco-terrorists and the EPA.
To point out how fricked up the state is, Oregon has mandatory full-service gas stations as make-work to keep people employed.

They all think alike. And if someone disagrees they attack.
