re: What would the current healthcare situation in America be if Obamacare wasn't passed?

These are the ones I have a problem with.
The subsidy is for working Americans. Anyone getting a subsidy through ACA is working. There might be a safe harbor for someone unemployed between jobs, but basically only people that are working and making above poverty level wages are eligible for a subsidy.
Millions of working Americans receive a subsidy and then they pay the difference themselves.
There's always been the Medicaid program to cover people in poverty.
ACA gave states the option to expand Medicaid to a higher wage level but most of the states in the south kept it how it was before ACA.

Where ACA could have been improved and probably would have been by now if the republicans hadn't been trying their hardest to get it to fail,
is they could have made the insurance premiums tax deductible for Americans working for a small business that didn't have to offer a group plan and so had to get individual coverage and made too much to qualify for much of a subsidy.
Those folks are getting the short end of the stick with ACA.
That's an easy fix if we had a functional Congress.

It's cost Alaska 44 million. Huge mistake to expand. The cost to the feds was 49% higher than estimated but we knew the Obama administration lied to get support.

One persons individual plan does not mean that is the case for everyone.
That is a LOT more than one person's plan.

What do you mean it cost 44 million to expand?
44 million a year, what?

69% of bankrupts before Obamacare was due to medical bills. That % would have probably went up.
The reason this went down is because people can wait until they get sick to get insurance. That is one of the biggest problems with the ACA.

The cost was 30 million more than estimated combined with already accepted annual costs.
We're also down to one provider in the exchange and Alaska has to pay 40 million to help subsidize.
The ACA is a boon to medical industry. Another crony capitalist venture

Did you read your own article that points out that the federal government paid 100% of the medicaid expansion for 2016?
So you were close.
Instead of it costing Alaska 40,000,000 to expand Medicaid, it cost them nothing.
Around here, there are a lot of people that actually don't understand ACA and most of what they think they know about it comes from liars like Roger.
Not sure why liars like Roger thinks it makes America stronger by trying to misinform his fellow Americans.
I think it sucks and it runs rampant on this board.

Liars like Roger is what is bringing this country down and if we don't start standing up to it we're going to be a country like Russia in our lifetimes.
I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you're not that stupid to not understand your own article, that's why I'm calling you out as a liar.
Please correct me if you're just a dumbass.

Why even come to this message board to discuss things if you brush away EVERY argument that people on the other side provide to you, and dismiss them as "dumbass russians lolz omg misinformed ignorance!"
The fact is that you have absolutely no interest in discussion, here. You only have interest in flinging shite. It's why you were too embarrassed to come to the board for months after the election. You claim to be a person of truth, but you were telling us hillary would win florida by 8 points.
You are a fraud who is set in his ways. Everyone not like you is a dumbass who is unworthy of your ears.

Wow, that was real hard.
Not sure where he got the $44 million - the ACA cost the state north of $50 million according to the article (having to bail out the exchange) so his point is even stronger.

Liar? Dude. I copied and pasted it it and it worked. It's not that hard. I haven't looked at all his posts, but these were civil and you call him a liar without even looking at his link?

That wasn't his point and it wasn't my point.

Roger's inaccurate retort to my statement about medicaid expansion:
It's cost Alaska 44 million. Huge mistake to expand
He was coming back at my previous comment that stated that only workers with earned wages were eligible for subsides under ACA and that most states in the south didn't expand medicaid so there was no expansion of people getting free coverage due to ACA in those states.
He came back with the retort that Medicaid expansion cost Alaska 44 million, which is completely false.
The federal government paid for 100% of the cost of Medicaid expansion, and pays 95% of it for a couple more years than it settles in at 90%.

Evidently you are a lot better at fixing links than reading comprehension.

I did look at his link, I just didn't re-link it. Look at my response goddammit, I reference the article in my response so it should be obvious I read the article.
look up a few posts to see this:

A family of 4 that makes 100,000 a year is middle class in many parts of the country and they get no subsidy.
Also, you completely neglect to mention deductibles anywhere in this post.

I posted before i saw your post. You need to take a deep breath and step away for a bit. You are sounding like CapBengal!
Did you see the part where Alaska would slowly be taking over those costs?
