As an exporter of goods to China, they didn't pay tariffs. They just stopped buying our goods. They bought soybeans from Brazil, lumber from Europe, etc.

Even when we lowered our prices to make up for the 25%, the Chinese wouldn't buy the material. They were prohibited from doing so by their government.

Trump thought he could win a trade war. Against a centrally planned economy and a totalitarian dictatorship. He didn't know what he was talking about. He lost. And the American Ag commodity producers paid the price.

The trade imbalance with China is worse than ever. Trump's trade war accomplished nothing.

Trump is the one who promised 2 Weeks and when he did he said he knew we would be hit but we needed 2 Weeks to prepare. Then he decided to go buy into the narrative of looking at case numbers and deaths with no plan for how that was going to end until he bought into the "Operation Warp Speed" crap. You can say it was hard because people would have said mean things about him and that's fine but it also shows he let us all down when we needed him most and he did it by violating the trust we put in him to lead and stand up to the Left.

He could have used remittances just like DeSantis plans to for getting Mexico to pay for the Wall. Of course once again people would have said mean things about him and it was hard.

He could have absolutely instructed his DOJ to charge Hillary. Of course once again people would have said mean things about him and it was hard.

He could have done a LOT more to drain the Swamp. He just appointed terrible people around him and never even tried to introduce any Legislation or meaningful reforms to do so. the most he did was cut some regulations and move the Bureau of Land Management to Colorado.

He lied because he either had no intention of doing any of that or he lied because he meant to but saw it was going to be hard so he just blamed it on everyone else why he couldn't do it.

that's not what i said at all. people can and do get caught lying all the time. what i'm saying is that regarding a campaign promise, unless he admits it (which in this case, it seems he may have recently?), there is no way to be sure of his intent. probably every politician in the last hundred years has made campaign promises that they know will be very hard if not impossible to fulfill. are they all liars? by your criteria, maybe so. and i might agree. but if so, then why are we stuck on Trump being some kind of anomaly?

also, not sure how accusing me of projection is relevant, but ok.
