Too cooperative and trusting. Tried too hard to be liked.

Should have had public executions on the National Mall on 7/4/2017 for every member of Congress, DOJ/FBI, CIA, NSA, State, the media, social media execs, and foreign agents that participated in the Russia Hoax.

Should have put Bannon in charge of all cabinet appointments and SCOTUS nominations.

Should have told the Fake News to go frick themselves.

Twitter and ego.

I did not like Trump. However, not all of his policies were shite. His handling initially of Covid was no worse than any one else would have done. Our economy was phenomenal. I liked his tax changes He could have had a legacy but he couldn't keep his mouth shut. His lack of restraint was a problem. It was selfish to always have to have the last word and to instigate shite. He didn't have to appeal to base. He was doing a good enough job to have gotten re-elected yet he kicked the hornets nest every chance he got.

Narcissism to cover a deep inferiority problem.

I voted for him twice and I'd do it again because that just happened to be the formula for a rampaging MAGA beast. But he was what he was.

I look at Trump like a pro wrestler. He was a showman first and foremost. His brand was the big oversized hair, orange skin, the contrarian hero. He had a model wife on his arm and raw dogged porn stars when he traveled on business.
There is a segment of our society that eat that kind of stuff up. They were hypnotized by him, many still are.

This.

He needed to recognize early on that they were out to get him. Should have just ignored the haters and let his actions speak for him. But he is a petulant narcissist and he could never just let it go.

And yet I still miss him despite his aggravating/inane/counter-productive twitter battles.

The bureaucracy is huge and as much as we would like to verify every person is loyal and working for the best interests of the administration, it’s just not possible. There will be those that are overlooked, hired out of necessity, and those that deliberately pretend to be something they aren’t to sabotage, leak, undermine, etc.

And the moment after he becomes the nominee, should he, Desantis will start making concessions . . . .

sadly, I agree with this. The swamp is uncontrollable.

The only thing we can do is elect an overwhelming majority of Representatives to drastically reduce the size of the bureaucracy. Take away the money - make them reduce the work force drastically.

Been advocating for this for decades now. Start with immediate 10% reduction in staff across the board to be followed by 30% reduction by yearend, unless the Secy of that Dept shows precisely what constitutional function cannot be performed at that level. All salaried positions must be tied to some constitutional demand. Not a cent for "just because we've always done it" or 'public relations' bullshite. No charity functions at all. Leave charity to private institutions.

Welfare reduce to survival mode only and then only for limited time - unless there are provable physical disabilities. No cash - only sustenance food and survival medication. Establish the "if you get hungry enough you will find a job" ethos. Let friends and family coddle their need-do-well layabouts and social misfits, not the taxpayers.

No student loans for anything except 'critical technologies' - absolutely no "studies" or "art" subsidies. Make universities liable for the loans given to their students.

Deport all illegal aliens - stop immigration for anyone who doesn't have critical skills that cannot be supplied by current citizenry. If you came here in illegal manner, you forfeit your right to ever become a citizen.

etc

etc

booming stock market

The stock market isn't about the president or even his policies. The Present has an effect on the economy, but the stock market doesn't correlate in real time.

record unemployment for minorities,

Again, more of what he inherited. And when he left office, millions of service level employees were sitting on their arse refusing to work and making $500 a week.

tax cuts for most

That's just factually incorrect. Most didn't get a tax cut. Most don't pay taxed at all. Further, he didn't pair his tax cuts with reduced spending. He cut revenue. And increased expenses. That's bad business.

securing the boarder

He tightened it up some. He didn't secure it. And he didn't do it in a meaningful long lasting way. 6 months after he left office they're pouring through more than ever. So that's no legacy at all. He gets marks for trying. But the end result is an abject failure.

The best thing he did was get government out the way and let businesses thrive

Meh. He issued some EOs. Now Biden is rolling them back. His legacy in this area won't be 10% of Regan's.

Small business owner. I have 40 employees. We are expanding. Did fine under Trump. Will do fine under Biden.

Doesn't really matter to me who the president is.

Hypocrite.

It's easy to say when it's not aimed at you.

You fell for it hook, line & sinker.

I am neither.

I find that the people who blame government for their failures, unhappiness, or inability to succeed are basically just losers who refuse to face accountability for their own poor decisions.

The successful men I have known in my life made money, built businesses, and raised their families through Civil Rights, Kennedy, LBJ, Carter, Vietnam, the 70s, Inflation, Stagflation, hippies, yuppies, Regan, the Cold War, Bill Clinton, all the Bush frickups, 9-11, the Great Recession, Obama, and OMB.

There's more opportunity now than ever. If you can't see it, you're the problem.
