What is to keep the alphabet agencies from scrubbing data to remove incriminating evidence

I mean, we're looking for files from years ago in some of these FOIA and discovery cases. What is to keep the FBI from scrubbing the data, shredding the files, modifying them, or just not providing them (Oops, I must have missed that one...)?
Every time a document request is made and it take 6 month to process, I keep thinking - they are reviewing, cross-referencing them, and deleting anything incriminating.
How much do you trust that any requests will provide us with the actual documents requested?

They don't need to scrub the data anymore. They have AI image generators to fix the issues for them.

Always keep an excuse handy.

In the meantime, all of our hopes for justice depend on some committee chair or investigator to request documents and hope they get them (before the turn of the next century).
I feel like if we find incriminating evidence on anyone with any clout in DC, it's because some low level data scrubber fricked up...

A functioning media?

Boy wouldn't that be nice! I can't imagine what it would be like to have a media watchdog instead of Democrat propagandists.

Hopefully multiple copies, digital trails and whistleblowers.

I assume that is why they fight every request and why requests take so long. They have to track down all official copies and scrub digital trails. As far as whistleblowers go, they just ignore them, unless they can provide official documenation to back up their assertions - which they can't because they've been deleted and scrubbed...

Which people?
One side had absolute power and was on the verge of losing it. Do you discount that?

No thinking person can believe that this doesn't happen regularly.

The Bureaucratic State Skunks have been destroying evidence at warp speed since Trump entered the picture in 2016, incriminating evidence that would end their reign of terror.

More patriots like Snowden.

Nothing! They can also take a DNA sample and put it anywhere they desire.
You are guilty of any crime they desire to link you.
