What is the logic behind this deportation? What is the purpose?

Why didn’t she attempt to gain legal status after marrying an American and being here for so long???
We don’t live in your communist utopia, thank god. We are a nation of laws and “no one is above the law”. She was illegally here and now she is going home. If she had gotten legal status and done what I posted above, she’d be able stay.
Choices were made by her and the American people. She made a choice to not get legal status and we, the American people, made a choice and voted to end illegal immigration via Trump’s policies.

Well I was hoping to finally get an answer to this.. but I guess not.

Again.. how do you get on the “I get to pick and choose laws” list? Forms? Interviews? Have to pass a test? Write essays? How do you get on that list?

Granted, the status has been changed according to law. Time to go home.
Yea, it’s the risk of holding a status that’s at the pleasure of the govt
That said, I think it’s fair to be curious what the motivator for that status change was. Surely she’s got to follow it and it’s the risk she took but especially for others with similar status it’d be cool to know if this was changing policy, or a misdeed she had or…. Right?

It's simple. Rounding up criminals and real bad guys is hard. It's much easier to pick these people up to meet the quota.
Sorry… but these people of yours disagree.
“No one is above the law” was your creed for 4 years. What happened???

The "logic" is the Rule of Law. But yes, had I been in that immigration office I would have buried her deportation order at the bottom of the stack or pushed a delete button. It's hard to imagine there being anything measurably good about deporting her other than respect for the law. But then, this didn't start with Trump, either Cubbies. Many people I think would be assets have been deported every year of our lives-as government is a bureaucracy. And if they have to side with or against the law, wouldn't we rather they side with it? But yes, I agree with you that it sucks.

To again be fair- essentially the entirety of her time here has been lawful and legal from what we know. Essentially the govt decided to change their stance on the agreement with her.
Which she is subject to following, of course, but I don’t think this yet qualifies as hunting down someone that was being defiant and breaking laws.

This is a really interesting case to me as I know of a successful, white South African who has lived in America under the same pretenses since the early 80s. He is 71 years old with Parkinson's. He owned two successful businesses in his time and has two kids: one of which is a far right, Christian SAHM married to a successful biomechanical engineer and the other is an internist married to a partner of a law firm that practices corporate law.
He entered the US on a student visa, was denied his request for stay, and granted a reprieve under the discretion of the government.
Would this board be as celebratory if ICE busted his door down to detain and deport him at this point in his life?

Is this one of those passive aggressive leftist tactics where you assume everyone here is racist but don’t want to say it? Of course it is, it’s what you people do.
1) I didn’t see anyone celebrating, so your premise is already flawed
2) yes, the law is law regardless if it’s a “white” South African, an Iranian, an Asian, “black” African, Hispanic, etc.
3) the same rules apply to everyone…. Like your side says, “no one is above the law”
4) finally, would it be a priority… no, the person in your story and this story would be way down the list. That being said… we don’t know this lady’s full story nor do we know the full story you made up/posted

I agree no one is above the law. She followed all laws and instructions and the government changed their mind about their discretion here.

We have to assume they would because he's illegal in their eyes.

According to the article: She tried to apply for a green card under a program for spouses of U.S. citizens, but was rejected due to a previous marriage she had in the 1980s that officials had deemed fraudulent, her daughter said.
Immigration law permanently bans an immigrant from obtaining a green card if they were deemed to have entered into a fraudulent marriage.
quote:
INA §204(c): If U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or an immigration judge finds that a person entered into a marriage for the purpose of evading immigration laws, that person is permanently barred from getting a green card based on any future family petition.
This applies even if a later marriage is genuine and bona fide.

So she came here illegally and fraudulently. Why are we supposed to feel bad for this woman again?
Posted on 6/26/25 at 10:52 am to HeadCall
You don't have to feel bad for anyone. I'm not asking anyone to feel anything.
This looks like a waste of resources and no one has been able to make an argument that detaining this woman benefits anyone in any way, outside of helping to meet some arbitrary ICE quota.

Hopefully it encourages more illegals to self deport.
Or at the very least it sets an example for people who may want to commit the same crimes this woman has.

It's pretty cool to champion for gray areas isn't it? That way you can stall Trump's agenda by tying up the courts wilth BS cases where the plaintiff should have simply been returned to sender.

Why would someone who has permission to be in the country self-deport? Do you plan to self-deport?

Why are you being dishonest and pretending this woman was in the country illegally? If you think she should be deported, that's fine. But don't lie and say she was here illegally when she had permission from ICE to be here.
