Where the frick do you people get this from? He's more likely to ally with Muslims against the West as 'Anti-Atlanticists' than he is to ally with the West.

I hope you realize that our CIA isn't squeaky clean, and has never been, and you would treat them like heroes...it's all in the eyes of the beholder.

The left is upset a likely murdered supposedly kept us from electing a likely murderer, who was to let in an untold number of potential Syrian murderers with little vetting.
If that makes sense

Yeah. For all the people that (rightfully) call out "Marxism," it's strange when many of those same people seem to have a strangely positive view of a corrupt authoritarian who was a high ranking KGB agent in the COMMUNIST Soviet Union.
No kidding. For a board that treats Reagan like a god, a lot of people sure like the guy who called the dissolution of the USSR the greatest tragedy of the 20th century.

Oh boy. People are drinking so much of Daddy's orange Kool-Aid that they're ambivalent on the KGB, and they call ME a liberal.

Let's evaluate your observation. First, tell us how old you are so we can determine if the premise of your comment is even remotely valid.
If it is, then we can perhaps evaluate what possibilities exist for why "Russia" in your lifetime has gone through any changes in the eyes of the world. It is hard to think of any possible answers of the top of the head though. Hmmm....

Putin is extremely opportunistic. He doesn't like islam as he faces opposition that is islamic. But as soon as he can use it for his own gain, he will push islam.

Not exactly what he said. And in context, it's pretty clear he wasn't lamenting that Communism fell but rather the collapse of the unified Russian peoples in a single state. Hence his use of the term "geopolitical disaster" which you conveniently omitted.

Fact is, the right has been more critical of Putin and his lawless dictatorship. Educate yourself, get your facts right, and don't blame the left -- Pence, Rubio, McCain, Ryan, most all generals and admirals ........... have all recently called him a thug, menace, and dictatorial murderer now and going back to his life's work with the KGB of being America's enemy, and trying to recreate the Soviet Union which is not in the US's interests.

That is to be expected. There is certainly no evidence that he would ally with the West against Islam. The Moscow-Tehran axis is the fundamental foreign policy of both the Russians and Iranians. The Soviets supported the Ayatollah in the 80s, and have continued to support the Iranians. An about face in terms of that relationship would imply other geopolitical changes which are not likely to happen, namely unity among Islamic countries, which is a fairytale.

Can you explain what you mean by this?

Putin and Russia is the #1 supporter with money and weapons of state sponsored terrorism such as with decades of support arming and building the nuclear Iran, Hezbollah, Syria, North Korea, and other rogue terrorists that harm the West and Israel. Putin is not our friend and wants to make nice so Trump takes away the sactions that have tanked the Russian economy into recession. Russia is a two trick economy built on oil exports and military weapons to countries like Iran and N. Korea. Read up on Putin to make intelligent comments.

I am assuming all these people clutching their pearls over Putin killing people feel the same way about Obama blowing up thousands of people across ME and Asia in drone strikes over the last 8 years, including hospitals, weddings, graduation ceremonies, and even American citizens?

Reagan and a very brave Michel Gorbechev, Russia's PM, were the archtitects of ending the cold war and allowing the countries of the Soviet Union to become independent countries -- Ukraine, Latvia, Kasitstan, and Eastern Europe (East Germany (unification of Germany), Romania, Bulgaria, etc.) which were all under the Soviet orbit. Hence, this is labeled that end of the cold war. Putin has stated this to be the greatest geo-political mistake of the 20th Century. It was. Hence, the Ukraine and the invasion of Crimea and succession of Crimea back to Russia is part of Putin's goal for Russia to re-eatablish dominance over the fomer Soviet countries. If not annex the countries like in Crimea, certainly to build a Russia type of European Union in trade and security. He wants to weaken the EU, and this is something that Trump needs to really be careful of. This is a cliff note verison.

Putin thanks you for your concern, comrade.

Putin critics (even media) end up dead way more than anywhere else. Even poisened by radioactive materials traced back to reactors run by Russia.
It's not hard to connect the dots.
But I think if we can play along with him, it allows us to slap around China. That's the larger issue for the US me thinks.

You could basically say the same thing about the CIA without a doubt.
