Before colonialism, there was no such thing as a white race. You identified with your country or tribal unit of origin. You were French, English, Scottish, Russian, Italian, etc.
It was only while colonizing the New World and enslaving other races that system had to be established. Especially since whites could be indentured servants during the early stages of colonialism.
As for caring what others think. I look at context. It very much matters when it comes to slavery, oppression solely based on race, and other injustices violating that persons wellbeing outside of objective legal procedures.

News flash, most people, not just whites, want to live in areas where people keep up their property, report criminals for crimes, keep their bullshite inside the house/ car(read music, noise, trash) and take some pride in where they live.

Agreed. I know a few racist white and black people but to act like it is pervasive in our culture is just disingenuous.
