I wonder if they’re not game planning for their 2nd nominee to get through because he’s not Gaetz and Gaetz to get appointed to the FL Senate.

Apparently Gaetz doesn’t have support from over half of GOP senators. Recess appointments are also off the table if 4 GOP senators vote against it, which seems likely

Not if the House goes into recess.

This is not true. Trump can use his power spelled out in the Constitution to send Congress into recess and then appoint him.

I don’t pretend to understand this, but I don’t think it is that straightforward.

I spelled it out earlier. Trump asks the House (Johnson) to recess and he does. Trump asks Thune to recess and he chooses not to. Trump adjourns both houses and makes recess appointments at his pleasure.
If Johnson decides to double cross and refuses, it will not happen.
And then the great American primary operation starts.

If Mike Johnson puts the House in recess, Trump can put the Senate in recess.
There's ONE possibility.
It's been discussed here all week, daily, multiple times.

Okay, but if Gaetz withdraws, or Trump withdraws him, you will have to come up with a nutty conspiracy to explain it without having to admit your mistake.

Gaetz is a favorite of Suzy Wiles. The speculation that Gaetz was chosen so his Ethics Probe would be shelved is probably what's happening here. I don't think anyone with any sense expects Gaetz to be confirmed, especially since he's pissed off so many people in DC that matter.

The Senate looks bad for us. Collins and Murkowski are definitely problems. That leaves, what, room for 1 or 2 more pieces-of-shite before tge Senate goes anti-maga.

House has a margin right now of 3 or 4. And many House Republicans are limp-wristed pussi3s.

Its best and easiest to get Senate on board. Probably going to take a lot of pressure on a few members.

Lara Trump lives no where near Gaetz’s district, she cannot run for that seat.

You can’t vote for AG Garland and not Gaetz without consequences.
20 fricking Republican Senators voted for Garland, and I guarantee it’s those same 20 cocksuckers that are opposing Gaetz.

Nothing would prevent the Senate from voting themselves back into session within 10 days. Scotus said that a recess less than 10 days =/= at true recess back in 2014.

If Trump were to force it,, he runs the risk of the Senate refusing to do anything for him. What would keep McConnell, Murkowski , Collins and either Cassidy or Tillis from creating a block that refuses to cooperate. You can't recall them nor can you force them if they say they won't run for re-election.

thats true, although it would likely go to the supreme court for interpretation... and would only be a 2 yr appt.
