In Trinidad it took me a while to get accustomed to people describing other people without any negative connotation (deprogramming I guess).
Africans were Black, Indians were Indian or East Indian, A Red means you are more Indian than Black, a Douglah more Black than Indian, Chini are chinese, Portugese usually means Brazilian, Spaniard means Venezuelan, and Carib means, well a Carib Indian. And of course me, often when I am in a maxi taxi, store, or bar, and someone calls out white man, its usually me because Im the only one there

Never used that AA bullshi. Never will.
I use only black if there is a need to distinguish skin tone. No CAPs just black.

Amen! Hyphenated terms just serve to divide us, not bring us together as Americans.

The best is when I’ve read articles from other countries that use the term African Americans to describe black in their own country.
Watching History Channel about the rise of humanity and the described how the African Americans crossed into the Mideast 50,000 years ago.

Probably because African-American Lives Matter would be too cumbersome to say

The only person I know that is African American has the whitist shade of skin I have ever seen.

Exactly. Alwasy thought AA was absolutely retarded. I don't make people call me European American.

If the phrase Colored Person would enrage you, but you'd insist a person be called Person of Color, you're a fricking idiot. But the fact that the affronted group insists on it, despite it being literally the same words in reverse shows that it's all about forcing you to comply and nothing to do with the words used.
Bingo.
That is why a cringe when normally conservative folks use a term like that. Shows they are scared to offend even if they don't agree.

GeauxTiger, I am stealing that meme. It is good work and deserves to circle the world.

Same and I still say it. Also, I'll be damned if I go around capitalizing "black." I hate that trend, too.

African American is the most stupid divisive term ever.
My fav is when the media would label European blacks like Edris Alba as African Americans

I loathe that any kind of hyphenated American became part of our lexicon.
Amen

I have always been amazed by the Asian - Indian connection. Shiteton of Asians crossed the land bridge at Bering, mograted southward all the way to South America and everywhere in between and became roughriding Asians, deeply into a different survival mode.
I saw am asian lady today, likely vietnamese and she looked almost identical to the American "Indians", skin color and size to high cheek bones, eyes, and other facial features.
The difficult part of the global "meshing" to understand is how completely unreliable most American blacks are to a society, and how fleeting almost any minor "contribution" they make.
never even co-opted the wheel in 10,000 after seeing it
