That's what AOC said will happen in 2030 "if we do not take drastic measures now!"

So if climate change becomes irreversible is will climate still have the ability to changes? Hasn't climate change been a part of the earth since the earth had a climate? How can something that has existed since the beginning of time be reversed? And if climate change is reversed does that mean we no longer have climate change?

CO2 is beneficial to the environment IMO.

Whatever the meaning it's Trumps fault.

AOC isn't well versed in climate science.

There's a lot of smart people working on carbon capture technology that will eventually be able to reduce the amount of CO2 in the air. Others are working on ways to convert the CO2 back into hydrocarbons. To make an artificial carbon cycle of sorts.

Now, that last process(es) are energy expensive. Would likely require a big investment in nuclear power to be feasible.

My point is, this actually isn't irreversible but requires better technology.

The 2030 screaming is a bunch of pearl clutching. That's when we're expected to hit + 1.5 C, but that's still a manageable scenario.

Actually it was Global Cooling before it was Global Warming. Whatever the oil companies are doing it's bad.

I think there is a Time magazine cover from the 80s or 90s showing the earth covered in ice.

If the weather would stay exactly the same every year or every day they would blame internal combustion engines.

It means it will be horrible and will never fix itself or adjust. Silly.

Let me unpack it for you from the inside out:

quote:

climate change

changing climate. straightforward

quote:

irreversible

Well, since climate "change" is just the delta-climate and can go in any direction, ANY change is "climate change" so there is no such thing as reversing change. therefore....irreversible.

It simply means more irresversible taxes are coming that may not be able to fix it unless we tax even more, larger, rinse, and repeat. Because Orange Man Bad.

It means that "evvironmentalists" will fudge the temparture data again to show a 0.1C rise in temps over the last 12 years, even though there is actually a decrease in measured temp data.

It's gonna get worse. We're gonna go through the first 'non change climate'. It will be 72 degrees everywhere all the time. No more seasons. Flora and Fauna will be disrupted beyond repair and we'll all die. But at least it will be a comfortable death.

Of course it is.

We are all carbon based lifeforms.

I've listened to several talks by Princeton physicist William Happer and he does not make a lot of climate scientists happy. His position is we are in a CO2 deficit. The contribution to global GDP in terms of food production will far offset any negative consequences of increased concentration of CO2. He also points out that atmospheric CO2's greenhouse gas effectiveness decreases logarithmic as the temperature increases. For example, if we see a 1 degree temperature increase and the concentration rises from 200 to 400 ppm then to see another 1 degree in temperature rise the concentration would have to increase from 400 to 800 ppm.
