It wouldn't be a nuke as much as a RDD which would be nearly as catastrophic. And if you think Iran not posing a near-term threat in that regards then you might want to research how DSCA is postured in this country.

Yeah, you have to believe that DARPA and the missing trillions of dollars from the national budgets have developed some things we can't even fathom.

... that's the scariest variable. A nuke at ground level in one of the major coastal cities or literally anywhere else would be far more catastrophic than a high altitude detonation. The saturation of ground-level radiation has a slower decay time than at altitude.

I know it's not the Cold War era anymore, but everyone should have already done their research on the nuclear scenarios and have primary, secondary and tertiary household plans in place in the event that there is (GOD forbid) a detonation that places them in a fallout zone.

But it's undeniable that if a nuke is ever used again, the entire world will change permanently. Again.
