(1) Jeff Landry is not committed to the success of the program above his own self interest. He will attack LSU directly if he thinks that aligns with the prevailing winds of national politics.
Remember in 2016 when your boy JBE threatened to shut down the LSU season if we didn't raise taxes? Talk about throwing LSU under the bus in the interest of politics.

That is a perfect example about how this has nothing to do with political affiliation. LSU nation will turn against both democrats and republicans if they put their own interests above LSU.
That is exactly my point

Ohio State fans wanted Ryan Day fired after he lost to Michigan last year. So what? The Governor of Ohio should have stepped in and axed him? All the guy did was go on to win the national title.
Someone else already pointed it out. Landry wanted to make a national news story so he could make the rounds and do interviews and be on tv.
Pro Landry people on here are deflecting by saying "oh if you are complaining it's only because he's right wing and you think everything he does is wrong" and honestly the same can be said for people defending him. Coaches get fired every year, high profile coaches get fired every year. Never do you hear stories about the Governor being involved.

He fired exactly who the fanbase wanted fired

LSU is a powerhouse institution and will get who it wants.
At what price and on what terms? That’s the dumb thing he’s doing. The market will dictate the salary range and length of the contract. You think Kiffin is coming here for 3 years/ $30 million if Florida offers him 6 for $72 million?
What Landry should have done is shut the frick up, called Desantis and whoever is the Pennsylvania governor (Josh Harris?), and colluded with them quietly to reset the market this cycle.

It's pretty silly that it happens over something so trivial, yet we can't agree on things that actually move the state forward.

“HE” did not fire Brian Kelly. The Board of Supervisors fired Brian Kelly. The governor is not directly involved in any of this, unless he hitches his self-promoting wagon to it.

Obviously your political alignments are much stronger than your support of LSU. You should probably go to confession.

He should t be involved
He is representing he is and that creates disruption and unpredictability

I am more loyal to a more prosperous state that used to be 49th, thanks to Mississippi, but now is falling behind even them.
This whole melt about LSU is overplayed. In a few months, we will have a new overpaid coach who some will love and some will hate. That would have happened no matter what Landry said but I do agree he should have just kept quiet.

I agree with you. Somebody needed to step up and get this done, because Woodward had a conflict of interest. He hired Kelly, and he was reluctant to admit that he had made a mistake.
LSU has some very dumb fans.

You should probably frick off. Landry initiated what Woodward was too scared to do.

Exactly. I forgot how much these guys loved Tate, Woodward, and Kelly.
Leave Tate out of this. His background was concerning when he was brought on but he turned out to be a fantastic President for the university. Dude was all about sports and kept the woke shite at bay.

Did you hear about the contract your boy Woodward gave Kelly? Why weren't you bothered about that, but you're already screaming about future contracts that haven't been offered yet?
You're just upset because it was Landry stepped up to do what Woodward refused to do. Don't be a dumbass your entire life.

I'll admit I'm MAGA and I'm delighted that Republican Governor Jeff Landry has taken on the LSU / James Carville Gestapo. Furthermore, I would suggest that while LSU is cleaning out their failed AD and coach, they disconnect its association with James Carville as well - at least as best as possible. That guy is major toxic.
And for those of you LSU democrats raging at Governor Landry let me offer you these words of wisdom.......
President Trump (and Jeff Landry) are right about.........everything.

I acknowledge his press conferences have been silly and misleading (at best) but I’m not understanding the panic.
LSU's leadership system is gutted, and it has to make a hire at its most visible and economically important position. And all of it has been aired out in the national media.
It is certainly not the position you want to be in as a flagship university.

I don’t disagree with the second part. I also don’t think any of this will affect the coaching search.

You really are an illogical, emotionally-driven woman. I thought for years it was just a rumor but it’s got to be true
