Maybe for some people.... I have held a job for 38 years out of necessity. I'd much rather spend my time fishing, golfing and playing music. But i get what your saying. We should never remove the necessity part of that equation.

The majority of the work force do not enjoy their jobs to any degree close to how much they would enjoy being paid to do absolutely nothing.
And people like Yang are fricking delusional dumbasses for thinking paying for people's basic needs long-term would motivate them to produce.
Nothing motivates a person more to produce than the threat of not having basic needs.

So you would rather let the bill fail and accept 3.2 million unemployed and growing each week. And once the airlines are bankrupt, cruise industry, hotels, then it trickles to individual bankruptcies which trickles to the housing market then everywhere else in the economy...that is a better solution?
It's 10% of GDP...not the end of the world. If you pass nothing then the latter could be realist.

I sold a home I owned for quite a while last year and had to show a profit of 265K. So of course one time hit where I made over the limit to get anything out of this bill. Not that I wanted any but it does kind of suck. I am retired but do have a side biz which is now making zero since this happened. And since I havent filed this year I will not get a thing. Talk about bad timing. Used the money we made to pay off some debt along with getting some teeth work done that was long needed. Sucks but it is what it is. This bill is a big step toward socialism in my opinion. Scares me and it will make the lefties and socialists feel good. Staying at home and getting money for nothing like the one Dem candidate ran on.

Do you think all $2.2 trillion is going to pay unemployed people more than what they made at work?
There are no words.

At some point...We have to just feel the pain and deal with it...Not give it to our kids to deal with...

the checks are not indefinite bro
once the economy is back open...
jobs will be in high demand...
if they want to be losers by staying home , then let them be losers...

Can you imagine how much Inflation will spike because of this monstrosity?
The US dollar value is going to nose dive.

And the irony is that the people wanting student loan forgiveness will be the same generation paying for this $2.2 trillion dollar loan.

I think some people could get along with student loan forgiveness but to ask for 30K when that's pretty much the median (so in essence pretty much all of it for most people) is a bit much
If you said 5K in student loan forgiveness people may have found that more palatable

We are paying people to stay home because we told them they had to stay home and couldn't work and closed their businesses down for a period of time.

I'm not the one who is clueless.
The government forced these people to lose their jobs. Without the government orders to shelter in place, we don't have 3.2 million unemployment claims. How do you suppose these people continue to pay bills?
Like I said, it's easy for you to bitch and moan about "muh kids paying for this" when you aren't the one seeing their job and income vanish overnight.
