The Community Relations Service (CRS) was established by Title X of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C 2000g et seq.). The mandate reads:
§ 2000g-1. Functions of Service
It shall be the function of the Service to provide assistance to communities and persons therein in resolving disputes, disagreements, or difficulties relating to discriminatory practices based on race, color, or national origin which impair the rights of persons in such communities under the Constitution or laws of the United States or which affect or may affect interstate commerce. The Service may offer its services in cases of such disputes, disagreements, or difficulties whenever, in its judgement, peaceful relations among the citizens of the community involved are threatened thereby, and it may offer its services either upon its own motion or upon the request of an appropriate State or local official or other interested person.

CRS provides confidential mediation, facilitation, training, and consulting services to help communities enhance their ability to alleviate, solve, and respond to future conflicts more effectively. CRS also works with police chiefs, mayors, school administrators, other local and state authorities, community-based organizations, and civil and human rights groups. CRS is a component of the U.S. Department of Justice that does not take sides in a dispute, and it does not investigate, prosecute, impose solutions, assign blame, or assess fault.
Once again, anything and everything that was done before 2009 suddenly became horrible when Obama was sworn in.

This is just another form of gov control over the right of people to assemble.

Don't really care when it started. For whatever reason you want to surmise, I'm hearing about it now. It is dumb.

And yet, Obama has no idea what the actual facts of the case are. Just like he made a fool out of himself on the Cambridge Police matter and the Trayvon Martin matter, I hope this blows up in his face, too.

Speaking of how things change, prior to January 2009, a post like this re the president would have been an insta-ban and pages of rebukes from posters.
Today.... crickets.

Well, his profession was "community organizer" before he leaned how to read a teleprompter.

How? By showing them that they only need to smash two windows to loot the QuikTrip instead of all of them?

They aren't encouraging them to protest, they are trying to control how it happens.
I find it funny that the government is telling people (i.e. controlling) how to protest. To me, that goes against the whole definition of what a protest actually is. What's the point of a frickin' protest if it's within the safe boundaries of the government's guidelines. Laughable.

However, we both know the assemblies by the "community" thus far have been anything but peaceful.

it's escalation. One side get bigger weapons and more heavy handed, the other side does too.

I dare either one of you to address the following question; does Obama know the actual facts in this matter?
Has anyone said that he does?

Here's what everyone knows.
There are violent protests going on. The police are aggravating the situation with their actions and tactics so far. That is not quashing discontent, and is leading to more violent protests.
Time to try something new.

So the police will teach them how to protest against the police?

Would rather they just continue to fight the police?

when they start firing tear gas at journalist setting up a mile away away from the protest then disassemble their equipment, it makes you wonder what their trying to hide.

I have no doubt the cops are out of control and violating civil rights left and right in MO.
I also have no doubt that the DOJ agitators are there to continue to stoke this situation and keep it inflamed.
