I'm sure this board, which has been so passionate about protecting free speech (even in the workplace, see google boy) will condemn these comments as creeping fascism
What does an employer firing an employee have to do with free speech? He didn't say he should be arrested.

I see this more as the athletes being held accountable for their actions and words. You can say pretty much anything and express yourself via multiple means, but that doesn't alleviate you from being held accountable for what you say and do.
and i'm sure you also felt this way about the google kid right?
right?

I have a handful of accounts bookmarked to look at so I don't have to go through the whole trash pile to find what I want. It's nothing like it was several years ago when I last had an account.

follows are an integral part of having a twitter, but I make it a point to follow those I disagree with intellectually on a variety of issues. good exposure to the other side of the issue, and a great thought exercise to process their argument and synthesize it with your own.
but I feel we are the minority. most just double down on whatever shite hand side of the issue they find themselves on

Well, dude wrote the memo, took a position and circulated it widely throughout Google. Working in a corporate culture and knowing theirs to be left leaning, it should come as no great surprise that the author of the memo was fired for a "code of conduct" violation. He had to know that he exposed himself to some of of discipline. So, yeah I think I am being consistent.

Nope -
The owners should tell them = "do that shite on your own time" = when you are on th clock that I am paying for, don't embarrass me or you're fired."
That how America works.

Google is a private employer and the NFL is a private employer. Both fired employees for expressing their opinions.
I'm not saying it is an earth-shattering argument, but surely everyone can see the congruency here, right?
Why is this a thing we're arguing over?

Didn't know who the "google guy" was/is - Kaepernick is scum. Maybe the google guy is too.

That's vague to the point of being nonsensical. Could you elaborate? What am I (not "you people") being hypocritical about?

I'm glad we have a real President again, not some smooth talker who tries to make everyone (and I do mean everyone) happy.
God Speed President Trump!

I don't know or care about your post history but when google boy got a pink slip for saying women were too dumb to be engineers this board melted down over "free speech". But when Trump says something like this it is cheered.
