People don't usually wish for the economy to suffer though regardless of political affiliation because it affects them personally.
Are there some sick people that want to see this get as bad as possible for a political outcome? Absolutely but those are most likely politicians and not your average citizen. The average citizen wants to see this end as abruptly as possible with minimal death tolls.
