This is not an op-ed either just casually said as fact despite the fact that 95% of people know how assign someone’s sex at birth and it’s just 5% of people who are batshit insane that are confused. “The Most Trusted Name in News... I am pretty sure there is a pretty easy test to determine the sex of any animal, including humans, and, in case of doubt, you could test the DNA.
The party of science doesn't seem to have been studying their class notes much lately.

I think that's Miko John Hughes, who was a native Californian whose parents were in the business, and not one of the local kids cast (ETA: Now that I look at it, none of the "major" kid speaking roles in the film appears to have been a local - all California kids, probably with pushy parents, most with at least commercial experience).
