We had china virus killing off mostly old people, and the left insisted young people, who were not at risk, shut down their lives to protect the old folks. Now we have supply chain issues, rampant inflation, enormous loss of household wealth, and all sorts of emotional problems in young folks. If they think we have too many old folks the answer was plain to see.
