re: We see the results of our revolving door of “justice” every day. Meanwhile…

No it isn't.
It's all about mercy.
The "Good News" is that we don't get what justice demands.
You're right that the Gospel is about mercy... but mercy for us due to Jesus receiving God's just wrath.
My point was that God does not do away with justice at the expense of mercy, but God is just, and the state should uphold justice, as Paul taught in Romans 13, since they "wield the sword" of justice.

No, it didn't have to.
God could have simply allowed us to reap the consequences of sin and justice would have been preserved just fine.
The "Good News" is that He provided a way for us to reconcile with Him.
He didn't have to do that.
What I was saying was that in order for us to receive God's mercy and forgiveness, His justice had to be meted out upon His Son.
You're right that God was not obligated to save anyone, and He could have justly let us perish in our sins and be judged eternally. However, since He covenanted with Himself (the Father with the Son) to save a people for Himself, then the only way to do it without foregoing His justice was to pour it out upon the Son instead of on us.

It’s about both. The wages of sin is death (Justice). That didn’t change with the work of Jesus.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved (Mercy)
Justice through judgment for sin is still very much a part of the gospel. Mercy is OFFERED through acceptance of Christ as the propitiation for God’s wrath through his sacrifice.

We are discussing a proposed change to our system that attacks rights.
No, you’ve bent over backward to make it about that.
The OP was intended to point out that our justice system is failing because of the actions of repeat offenders who continue on that path.
Just like progressives, the only rights you’ve argued for here are the rights of criminals.

Seems like people’s rights to live a free and safe existence doesn’t sound as bad under a totalitarian dictator compared to living next to the guy out on bail for the 13th time and murdered somebody.
But muh constitution!

How often do you think this happens? You must believe it’s a common occurrence to detail it here.
Too often is the answer to this retard question.

you think plea bargains are a new thing?
Perhaps the woke liberal activist judge who ignores very real threats and pleads them down because “muh racial justice” is a new thing.

Who is respecting the rights of people like the young Marine? Or the girl in Charolette? Or the girl in Georgia? Or the little girl in Houston? We can keep going on. YOU CARE MORE ABOUT CRIMINALS THAN LAW ABIDING CITIZENS WHICH IS LUDICROUS!
It was way worse in 1977!

This argument would work for the hellscape that was 1975-1995 America
The death by homicide rate for teenagers today is way down compared to 30-50 years ago, but there's more mass killings at schools.
The overall violent crime rate is way down, as you note - but is the frequency of violent crime perpetrated by assholes on the street despite dozens of felony convictions (noticeably) up or down as well?

Is there a way to compare the repeat offender rates now vs the "hellscape" years?
The specific point in the OP is the revolving door of "justice", not crime rates overall.

Our system cannot handle the amount of prosecutions we have, currently.

Call me crazy... but executing a repeat offender will certainly keep them from repeating, would it not?
Well yeah, but that’s simply never going to happen. And I don’t trust government prosecutors that much anyway. Some are downright evil. But we absolutely could house criminals away from polite society.
