Damn Obama actually decreased a tad toward the end Wtf Trump
When you see Trump’s budget deficits it’s rather eye opening. His budget deficit for 2020 was $1.02 Trillion. That does not include the $2.2T in COVID spending. 2019 was $984B, 2018 was $774B, and 2017 was $685B.
This is why we have inflation. Sure Biden poured gasoline on the fire but the fire was already raging under Trump. Why Trump supporters support this is beyond me.

Anyone with just basic knowledge knows that the House holds the purse strings. Yes, the President and Senate have some say, but the brunt of spending comes from the House.
I think the notion is, and it's fair, that the president does have substantial influence on spending. Particularly when his party has control of congress, but even when the minority - there's an expectation of leadership and the power of the veto that gives POTUS some say.
Also, it would be different to argue that Trump isn't accountable for spending if he had fought it, vetoed spending bills, and didn't lobby congress to spend more than Pelosi was proposing on Covid.
I know you don't need a reminder, but others evidently do - to whatever degree Trump was a bystander on spending, he was also a bystander on TCJA as a president has the same influence on tax policy as he does spending. But there's not much posted on these boards about the great Paul Ryan tax cuts. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've seen "Trump tax cuts" listed as accomplishments of DT about 500 times.
I'm good however someone wants to frame it, but be consistent. If Trump gets credit for tax cuts, he's accountable for all the spending.

This. I love his tax cuts.
All this did without corresponding cuts in spending just puts more on our kid’s credit card. It’s extremely fiscally irresponsible.

Up down sideways left right - no one cares. They DO Care that debt under all previous 43 presidents was 10.7T and under Obama it was 9.3T

This chart is why I gladly vote third party. Republicans and Democrats are killing this country with their spending. frick both of them for what they’ve done.

Nah, I just like less government. Right now, he affords us the best shot at that.
He absolutely does not give us the best shot at that.
It’s objectively false.

As long as baseline budgeting exists, and SS/Medicare/Medicaid persist, the debt will continue to climb in perpetuity, regardless of whether Trump, DeSantis, or Henry Ford's reincarnated corpse, are elected in 24 and beyond.
