We are gaining about 125,000 to 150,000 barrels per day, every month now. We are about even with the Ruskies and will pass them like they are standing still, gas production we already out produce them by about 20%. Right now we are the largest energy producers in the world fellas.

Now thats a big stick to wield.

List of countries past peak.

cwill doesn't buy into my doom and gloom, but he is the most rational guy to listen to on these issues. I just think if you look at this chart, we have one last heroin blast from the fracking, but the increase is not sustainable. I hope I'm wrong.

Technological advances will continue to produce new oil discoveries. Global oil reserves are based on recoverable oil. There's a lot of oil out there that we just can't get to yet. Don't doubt that hungry energy companies are more resourceful than a submariner with one day shore leave.

Bunk, you would be dead on in your peak beliefs if technology were frozen in place. Without hz drilling and multi-stage fracking the price of natural gas and oil would have made alternative fuels viable and necessary...but we innovated and ushered in this new era of American energy.

That being said there probably is going to be a break over point where the cost of extraction makes alternatives viable and fossil fuels fade.

Peak oil is the theorized point in time when the maximum rate of extraction of petroleum is reached, after which it is expected to enter terminal decline

In the 80s, peak oil was taught that the terminal decline would come from scarcity...

Technology keeps pushing the peak out though.
