I’ll agree with you for once. Most military veterans who are going on social media and podcasts for clout are very full of shite. That’s the main reason why I never watched Shawn Ryan because he lets his guests go overboard without stopping them and was completely wrong about his Tesla sources.

Anyone who wants to criticize Marcus Luttrell for that debacle can go and try it for themselves.
Not many people can join his boat and armchair quarterback.
Now, if you want to criticize him for being so vocal about it after, so be it.
For anyone who’s read his other books, he deployed after this incident to Iraq and got wounded again.
After this, the Navy retired him and asked him to write the book because they wanted it for recruiting/propaganda purposes.

It was 2nd Batt and an ODA. I have former teammates from both, who were there, and very personally involved.
The facts and the story do not align.

It sickens me to think about it and made me go from a kick arse Warhawk to not wanting to fight any war unless our sovereignty is being threatened.
We fought wars for two decades and got nothing for them.

The SEALs are really a group of shitty people. Most of them are hell on wheels as warriors, but lots of horrible people when not behind a rifle.
Just go look into what the SEALs did to USAF Combat Controller John Chapman. Basically, he was killed while on a mission with some SEALs where the SEAL team leader left him for dead on top of a mountain. He ended up saving a bunch of Rangers when their helo crashed near him. SEAL leadership tried everything in their power to stop Chapman from getting the MOH including straight up lying about what went down. Then, it turns out there is drone footage of the entire incident and SEAL leadership relented on giving Chapman his MOH but with the caveat that the SEAL that left Chapman on the mountain get one too.
Pretty disgusting stuff.
