Not a great comparison considering new coal plants are obscenely expensive.
I do think we'll need nuclear ramp up in the future to provide our needs but the overnight cost is massive.
I'd have no problem with the fed investing a trillion dollars to build the shite out of nuclear plants over the next decade so long as the utility cost does not get passed along to the end users.

I have a lot of respect for Musk. He;s so smart he fugured out the the feds will supplement his electric car biz with tax credits. So he jumped in first in a big way and his Tesla used up most of those credits.
Then he got NASA to subsidize much of his Spoace X start up expnses.

Not gonna trash Musk.
The dude immigrated from a very racist (against wypipo) country and came to North America with basically nothing.
Now he's at the top of the list of richest and most successful people in world history to date.
Nobody can be a genius at everything but the guy is a genius, highly motivated, has experienced actual hate and racial bigotry, and is more financially successful than pretty much anyone.
I fricking HATED that Odumbass ended the space shuttle program, and Musk got us back there in space, proving that normal people in the private sector can accomplish much more than the US Government, and at a mere fraction of the price tag. That elevated Musk to near the top of my personal admiration list. He's a pretty eccentric dude but he is the American dream personified.

Second, in that conversation Musk simply states that a nonrenewable resource is ..... wait4it ..... not renewable, ie, at some point it will run out, or become so rare as to render acquisition costs unfeasible.
Third, when he refers to harnessing the sun as "the way forward" (yet ignores probability of solar-dependent biomass as a corollary), it's a deft but obvious promotion of Tesla Energy Solar Power, Inc., which is his job a CEO.
