A DC councilmember who represents the ward with the highest absences rates in k-12 schools is proposing a bill that would garnish wages of parents based on percentage of the school year missed. The funds collected would pay for new programs for schools and better equipment.

What are your thoughts on this?

Very few white kids in the D.C. public school district and the ones that are there are probably not chronically truant.

While they juggle what to do about illiteracy not showing up is a symptom. The problem is the lack of awareness of oneself, lack of self worth that spirals. No solid foundation that could arise out of two parent households. DC is worse than a shithole say in Africa. Americans can easily better themselves while overseas there isn’t much as opportunity

Chronic absenteeism is a national epidemic and the larger, more urban your school district is, the worse it is.
IMO, this a direct correlation to the preposterous Covid restrictions seen by the public in regards to their children being used as pawns by people that were supposed to have their children’s best interests at heart.
Regardless of socio-economic coin you fall on, they’ve lost complete respect and trust in anything coming out of a public school district’s mouth, especially anything uttered by a teacher’s union.
Those children were just magic wanded through the time they missed from an in-person education and those parents see through the hypocrisy and sham.

LOL, These people don’t have wages.

Why don’t you take their vacation homes while you’re at it.
