I look at these polls and think "If you voted FOR Trump in 2016, what has he done in the last 3 years to make you less likely to vote for him in 2020?". Despite what the media desperately wants you to believe, I just don't see many, if any, 2016 Trump voters suddenly changing their position. If anything, I see people who were hesitant of the unknown and didn't vote for Trump in 2016 now saying "well, the world didn't end with this guys a POTUS. Maybe my fears were unfounded."
On the flip side, is there any current Democrat candidate that appears likely to galvanize the support Hillary couldn't get? Perhaps Biden, but his own party has the long knives out for him and he perpetually underachieves when he has run in the past. Bernie? Are past HRC voters going to flip to him? He was a novelty in 2016. Now he's just a ranting bozo whose shtick has been stolen by...Elizabeth Warren...who somehow is even more personally unlikable than Hillary. She has all of the elitist, shrill school teacher charisma without the corporate backing of HRC

Meh - Warren is working on that. Problem is, Wall Street and Big Tech are so terrified of what her policies will do to their bottom line, they're scared to even talk to her.
Hillary they knew was one of them - that at the end of the day, you pay the fee, you get the policy you want. They understood she was mostly talk on fiscal issues.
Warren and Bernie? Wall Street can't NOT donate to them fast or often enough (relative to Hillary).

Guess who breaks records with their voter registration efforts? Dems. It's easier to get registered than it is to vote, and not everyone who is registered has a desire to vote.
