Was blown away tonight by the neighbor I hadn't met before...maybe there's hope yet

I fly my Stars and Stripes and USMC flags in my front yard on special occasions(i.e...National holidays, military holidays, and special occasions). The reason I don't do it every day is because of my homeowners association...who I made an agreement with two years ago rather than to go court.
There is a middle age Black man who lives 6 houses down from me. I've noticed him on several occasions when he and his wife walk by on their nightly ritual of walking around our block several times. Tonight he was alone in his journey when he approached my property as I was taking down my Colors. He stopped and approached me smiling. He had a question...I said to to for it. He first asked if I was a veteran and I gave him my background in The Corps. He asked me then was I a Republican. I was hesitant to answer but replied "yea I am". Then he asked me if I supported President Trump. I proudly said Hell Yeah! What happened next was surreal. He grinned at me and said "me too" !!!! We shook hands, fist bumped and then he told why.
He told me that his two kids(one male the other female...no transsexual or other disorder that he mentioned) had been struggling finding a job that was on a par with their education level that they went to school for...until 10 months ago. Magically both kids are in demand and employed in jobs making nearly double what they had been making the last 4 years previous. Then he blew me away by saying....Donald Trump is the reason they are now thriving. He also said Obama didn't do shite for his race and that Obama was only in office to feather his own nest! He also informed me that several other Black families in my neighborhood feel the same as he does and that they will vote Republican in the next two elections.
Long story short...We are now in the process of arranging a small block party to meet and greet others who WE can convert. Just a tip...get to know your neighbors, You may have more in common than breathing the same air.

It would be great if people just voted for the best candidate and dropped party affiliation games.

There is a local black radio talk show host here is Jackson MS that is a big Trump supporter. He gets calls from other blacks quite regular that have figured the Democrat party out and support Trump.
Of course, he gets lit up a lot too.

But given the status quo of the democratic party having a famn stranglehold on minority votes for no substantive reason, I'm happy to identify as Republican and/or simply right of center to help trigger a change to said status quo.

Talked with a strong minded, articulate black woman in the airport the other day. She was praising Trump and shitting on the Democrats and their tactics. Gave me hope. She said there are many blacks who feel the same but don’t speak out due to backlash, but she didn’t give a shite. She actually started arguing with another black woman in the terminal.

I don't know if you get the Larry Elder show where you live, but he's (I believe) nationally syndicated and a great black radio host that's pro-Trump. He always wants to talk facts when libs want to attack him or Trump. Good stuff.

I 100% agree with your first statement, but the democrats will always pull the D lever no matter what. So it kinda forces the issue with Republicans. See Edwards v. Vitter.
In regards to Trump being a good guy, I completely disagree. He is egotistical and thin skinned.
Saying that, he is the best president in the last 100 years on items of policy and I will gladly donate to his campaign AGAIN for 2020. MAGA!
