Congress isn't the only branch involved

Its why the whole world faced massive inflation when biden started dropping trillions in the M1 supply.
Wait...what?

Oil is flowing through the strait and prices will drop. If the price is around the low 70s by decision time I doubt we see any change. That's a big if though

When you get down to it, it's the one which matters the most as what isn't appropriated (by Congress) cannot be spent.
See: The Appropriations Clause
quote:
No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.
See also: The Antideficiency Act
quote:
This act prohibits federal agencies from obligating or expending federal funds in advance or in excess of an appropriation, and from accepting voluntary services.

That's only true so long as we continue our reliance on our entire money supply being illusory as it is cash advances taken against an open ended credit card held by our Third National Bank (aka the Federal Reserve).
When the USD is backed by precious metals like Gold & Silver, Millei will have hitched Argentina's prosperity wagon to the unencumbered United States'.

Money printing is just taxation through inflation
No different than raising taxes to increase govt spending. It’s just most voters are economically illiterate and don’t realize this

Naw. The President can veto any of those spending bills unilaterally

What is vetoed by the President can't be spent, either.

Trump is responsible for some of the largest deficit spending years in US history. He is a "money printer go BRRRRR" acolyte

I've been trying to educate Trump fans about this since 2017.

You finally get back from suspension land and this is what you want to do? Troll that the President isn't shutting down the government over spending when you would then turn around and troll if he did?
Damn dude, you used to be worth discoursing with.

What a strange response to a 100% correct and factual statement regarding Executive power in the US.
You're also ignoring that every admin has actively negotiated and aided in structuring each CR since we started using them.

I really don't understand why people imagine specie to be some curative.
I think the advantages of fiat are fairly clear. Our problem is not fiat v. specie problem; it is a revenue v. expenditures problem. We've tried low taxes for 50 years but only trimmed around the edges on the expenditures. Why? Turns out people like many of the fruits of the expenditures.
You cannot, as a nation, fight several generation spanning wars, enact an expansive welfare state for the poor and elderly, and cut taxes then expect it to end well.
This is why our debt exists. We are not a coherent people. I don't know what went wrong. It is easy to make trite generational slams at boomer narcissism but that doesn't explain it all. I've come to the conclusion that higher taxes are the only reasonable option left to us. We need to stop growing our debt; slowly chew the debt and our interest payments down. There is no magic way to that other than higher taxes since there is no political will to axe the things that create the expenditures requiring the debt.
