Poor performance on the income statement. Merchandise walking out without being paid for due to liberal policy would explain the poor performance. Wouldn’t it?

Poor performance. Lol.

There are three things Walmart does well. Twisting suppliers arms for reduced wholesale prices… inventory management… and not diluting its retail ability by being overstored. They didn’t forget how to operate in Portland.

Did WalMart give to BLM? The irony here is off the charts.

Yikes. I’m a Hank fan but this thread is one of his worst performances to date.

Everyone in here just taking turns with his arse.

ehhh, i tend to side with Hank on this one.

It’s clear the reason they are closing these stores, and there’s certainly a lot of irony if Walmart is a woke corporation. And I say good riddance if Walmart is in fact woke.

However, the caption of “ALL Portland stores” is certainly sensationalist if not a bit disingenuous as there are numerous stores in the general metro area and only 2 (within city limits) are closing.

I saw a link 3 weeks ago 3 suburban wal-marts closing in the Chicago Suburban area. Homewood, Lincolnwood, and Plainfield.

So many choices especially with Amazon and other online businesses.

Wal-mart, probably closing poor performing stores nationwide.

So they aren’t closing the Walmarts in Portland?

The only debate here is how one infers the headline.

Does the Portland mayor or the Portland City Commissioners govern the actual city of Portland or is it a Metro area like Nashville - Davidson?

I don’t know the answer.

If Portland’s city leaders decision to allow homelessness and lawlessness only impacts the actual city, Andy Ngo’s headline, while sensationalized is factually correct.

It’s no less sensationalized or disingenuous than saying the stores are closing for “poor performance”. “Poor Performance” is factually correct. But its the politically correct way of saying they are being shoplifted out of business.

You apparently had enough data to form an opinion that they closed due to poor performance.

Good. And because of Portland’s demographics, they can’t even be called racist.

The announcements come just a few months after the Walmart CEO warned stores could close and prices could increase in light of sky-high retail crimes affecting stores across the country.

"Theft is an issue. It’s higher than what it has historically been," Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in December on CNBC. He added that "prices will be higher and/or stores will close" if authorities don’t crack down on prosecuting shoplifting crimes.
