Currently sitting on the beach in PCB. Thousands of people on the beach right now and saw one mask.

Zero fricks given here.

You would think living in a rugged place like the Pacific Northwest would have bred a more rugged, independent people. I get that it's a naturalist-hippie heaven, but still.

That is only to hide their shame for having the choice of being born white.

Outside the city, it’s gets as redneck as anywhere. I lived there. The city is the problem, it’s full of people that don’t have roots there.

It did, but then the soys moved into their cities and outnumbered them.

Theory: People in cities get so accustomed to stopping and starting depending on traffic lights. I think it tames them and makes them more governable.

The company I worked for only recruited from Ivy League plus Stanford, Duke, NW, etc

I was only there because my company was acquired.

So, after the music rush of the 90s that made it a destination for every grunge wannabe dope addict, you had the dotcom boom funneling tons of that type of person (Ivy League) to the NW, and they became rich, and ultimately became senior leaders. They just recruit more of the same. It was tolerable in 2000. By 2005, it was bad. By 2010, it was lost.

The most conservative people I knew were gay men, part of the Log Cabin Republicans.

It’s a shame, because it is an amazing place.

They are bonkers out there. I went hiking in Washington State a few weeks ago and I would say about 75% of hikers in the mountains were wearing a mask. And the trails were not crowded. I came upon one family - we were at least 30 feet apart and separated by a natural boundry - and the mom saw me (unmasked) and screamed at her kids to get their masks on. I just started laughing as loudly as I could and shook my head while she shot me a dirty look.

They are literally just batshit crazy. If you are that worried about catching a bad cold, lock yourself inside.

Aside from that, very pretty country out there. Shame they ruin it.

Seattle is the worst. King County is pretty bad too. Go outside of King County and most places don't care. I went to my hometown in WA a few weeks ago and saw probably 150 people before I saw my first mask.

Most of the hikers come from King County, who are all brainwashed into wearing masks. Hiking while wearing a mask baffles me. I have done a lot of hikes without one and haven't had anyone yell at me yet, but have had quite a few times where people will bail off the trail into the bushes to avoid me

We were in Seattle area in May. More specifically near Bremerton, Polsbo and Silverdale. We went nature walking and no one was wearing one outside then. Obviously, the virus must have gotten worse since then!
