According to ChatGPT, here’s the rub:
1. Parishwide Proposition – 4 Mills – District Attorney – 20 Years
Purpose: A new property tax to provide additional funding for the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney’s Office.
Pros:
• Alleviates case backlogs and supports hiring more prosecutors.
• Aims to improve public safety and reduce delays in the justice system.
Cons:
• It’s a new tax, not a renewal.
• Critics worry about increasing tax burden and want more oversight on how current funds are spent.
?
2–6. School Board Proposition Renewals (10-Year Terms)
These five are renewals, meaning they continue existing taxes without raising the rate.
Prop 1: 0.72 Mills
• Funds the I CARE program (drug/alcohol abuse prevention and student wellness).
Prop 2: 1.04 Mills
• Supports general operations of the school system.
Prop 3: 5.99 Mills
• Covers school salaries and benefits, ensuring competitive pay.
Prop 4: 4.98 Mills
• Funds school facility maintenance and repairs.
Prop 5: 7.14 Mills
• Helps with school technology, security, and equipment upgrades.
?
Pros of Voting YES on Props 1–5:
• These are renewals—no new taxes.
• Ensure stable funding for public education, including teacher pay, safety, mental health, and basic operations.
• A “no” vote could result in program and staff cuts.
Cons of Voting NO:
• Some feel the school system needs better financial accountability before renewing taxes.
• Tax fatigue—voters may feel they’re already paying enough.

No to all taxes. They are not good stewards of the money and they always want more and more.

I have no skin in the game, I’m not an EBR voter. My BIL is an ADA and in favor of the DA mill. He sees the backlog and it’s mostly forensics testing holding up cases. Almost all gun cases. TIFWIW

I'm leaning towards no on everything. The taxes that are already collected in EBR are insane for what we're getting in return. Show me what you're gonna give me first... Show me what you're gonna do with what you get already and maybe we can talk.

True
I remember when the first passed the library tax. They used the taa as x to fund the library and the money that was funding the library went into a black hole.
Wd pay enough taxes. Reorganize things, fund the vital things and quit all the funding that goes to superfluous programs.

We be voting yes for DA renewal (4mills) about $54/yr for me and against the approx 20 mils for EBR schools.

I have never voted for a tax renewal or new tax, and never will. No matter where your government is, there is no way they can spend your money better than you can.

You can’t convince me that it’s a lack of revenue problem. Control / prioritize the spending better.
I voted no.
