Pretty much how it rolls with any government job...

Wait, you want the effective, hard-working people to leave gov work to only leave the useless morons working?

Never claimed otherwise, but they're who we're talking about. I will again ask, you want those people to leave?

I'd ultimately argue that point. Especially GS 13 and up types. It's a good gig and the benefits are real good. They might bitch about it, but they won't quit and lose the goodies.

The problem might come on the government contractor end especially those with Secret clearances who have gotten used to never stepping foot out of their home offices. TS/SCI types might bitch that their hybrid options have been cut, but they were used to going in at least two days a week because you can't have a SCIF just anywhere.

The engineers could get field days where they go on site so they don’t always need to be in office

I can't remember how they found out, but Wasn't there some woman who had been working from home and they found out she had never even connected her provided computer?

That's part of the job for most already. Project management doesn't require a 100% butt in seats approach. I won't speak for other professions, but hybrid WFH isn't hindering anything in this field.

I always figured work from home was more efficient to be honest. And this was 20 yrs before covid.

Meh, not really a huge fan of that. Some jobs absolutely need full work weeks in the office. Some don't. It's also pretty easy to spot who fricks off at home and who doesn't. They're the same people that don't get shite done while in the office too

ETA: I would love to watch the melts if they do this though, so I guess I support it on that front

He isn't talking about all companies. He is just talking government workers and use it to self-purge many without the mess.

No I'm not. I'm simply trying to suggest a much faster approach getting where everyone wants. Forcing everyone in the office means there must be an office to go to. Atleast 1 , so now in order to move something like the interior out of DC you must purchase/setup infrastructure vs opening up a new job reqs, telling them to move or quit, and being done with it.

These lib federal workers would.still be living/embedded in N. Virginia. We want the departments and the workers moved out. Send them to Southern New Mexico or some other shithole.

We want Virginia brought back in to the Confederacy.

I was talking about it for gov workers. It would be very easy to fire the useless ones for cause if anyone cared to look. You don't need to take WFH away across the board to accomplish major cuts.

It definitely was for my last company. Efficiency and productivity shot through the roof going to WFH and ended up saving $40million/yr in operating costs due to closing small offices that were not really needed and trimming back office resources that weren't as much in demand anymore.

That is silly though. Why pay for unemployment if you dont have to? that would be the fiscally irresponsible path. Whatever you can do to trim while avoiding firing folks is the obvious and best first step.
