And losing economic standing/SOL.
There is a real cost to nativism and it's inefficiencies
I'm not saying you are ignoring this, but many you'd expect, are.

What if you're willing to accept the cost?

Weird how natives were able to build one of the greatest economies in human history without millions of Indian immigrant workers

Yeah, I notice Vivek didn't complain about the American work ethic or culture when our engine of prosperity turned him into a billionaire and sent him to ivy schools. But now, in order to defend H1B and displace American workers, now there's a problem.

But I also believe that are plenty of qualified Americans who are getting fricked over by the imports.
Probably. And yes, it sucks.
But at some point, there aren't excuses. I'm confident in my brain power and work ethic that I could have been relatively successful in any era. Whether it be in today's workplace or in the Middle Ages.
Anytime, Anywhere.

Facebook isn't the only ones.
Pretty much every corporation who has been challenged on this in court has lost. Look up Cognizant.

quote:I'm all for credentials, but there's no PE exam for people making computer software. So, for that field at least, your advice boils down to "go learn a bunch of irrelevant stuff."
If you want to prove out competency only hire electronic/computer engineers that legally can call themselves “engineer” by passing the Professional Engineering exam in their state of residency.
Having worked on software projects with people with engineering degrees, I can say that many of them overestimate their abilities in the field pretty dramatically. Of course, they don't stand out too badly because so many of their colleagues went to "coding boot camps" or whatever. An EE is at least marginally better than those clowns.

Then make sure you advertise this as part of the plan, and don't shy away from it like some others

There is that focusing on the past again.

I thought everyone wanted Vivek for president?

I think he’s dead right! I’m an electrical engineer married to an accountant. We raised our kids more like Vivek is suggesting. I think he goes a little overboard by implying that kids can’t have fun - ours did.
Everyone of our kids was in the 31 to 35 range on ACTs; everyone of them was reading before they turned four (simple sentences. This is far easier to manage than you might think); everyone of them got excellent degrees: one is an engineer, one an HR Manager for a tech company, one a hospital consultant with a Masters degree, and one with a PhD. All well married and good earners.
But we raised them atypically from most Americans.

You literally sound like a Leftist, removing individual choices and placing winning and losing on some institutional source.
Vivek did that, not some esoteric overriding force

First time I've agreed with SFP on an issue of any significance in quite a while
The point is there is a happy medium that we'll be able to pinpoint with this administration. That will be a marked improvement over this "Camp of the Saints" bullshite that the shitlibs all over the west have been saddling us with for decades. Hordes of swarthy and ignorant poo people ruining our cultures

You're assuming that I suggested we should maintain the status quo.
I do not promote maintaining the "fat and happy" mentality.
Personally, I am of the opinion the Dept. of Education is behind much of the academic decline and pursuit of excellence in this country.

Data would be nice.
Knowing what we need and how many should be public information.

I'm pointing out his hypocrisy. Try reading and not assuming.

Doesn't happen.
Never has, never will.
It's not true. 60% of my neighbours are Indians from India who work for Intel and Nike. They are fantastic people and their kids are assimilated AF. They are superior to a typical 5th generation white American family in basically every conceivable way. No tattoos, their kids are not going to be trans or hate their parents or hate America. They won't do drugs. They will be doctors or engineers.
We should work harder to bring this talent from Ukraine and Russia and other Slavic countries though, because it does exist.
