I doubt the principal or mother have the pockets to pay for Zwerner's medical bills and whatnot.

I don't know the criminal penalties applied in this case, I'll have to go read up on it again.

taxpayers shouldn't have to pay 10 mil. it sucks for the teacher but come on that is ridiculous

Wouldn't they have insurance for this?? TBF $10M is larger than most policies but a school system is a large entity with a lot of potential liabilities

I had an Arab guy ring me up in a convenience store the other day. His right hand was missing. Made me wonder.

Why should the teacher pay ANYTHING? She tried to get little shite out of her room and his weapon secured. She did absolutely nothing wrong.

Not to mention she's lost her career and God only knows what other repercussions.

who says she does? it seems like you think she is out a whole bunch of money and didn't have insurance.

His parent(s) should be in prison. This is 100% learned at home.

She was injured at work. The school’s argument was that she should be compensated based on her workman’s comp insurance.

But the schools’ negligence in dealing with a known threat fricked that all up.

Why do your questions sound like they're coming from the 6 year old?

Bullets leave scars. They cause nerve damage. A lot of people wind up in wheelchairs from the shrapnel. They will frick you up.

And tell me how much you enjoy being in society after a 6 year old shoots you. She probably wants to stay in a bunker.

You can't realistically say she's been "made whole" just because her 5-10k hospital deductible was paid.

I read the link article but I am not sure how the award was done

More example I'm sure there is immunity to the school district and their liability is limited and any personal judgment against the mother or the assistant principal is virtually impossible

In reading above I thought I would clarify some more in Florida governmental immunity which would apply to schools as limited to $200,000 so the most she would collect is that without making some sort of claim bill to Congress / the state.

Further eta: under Virginia law their liability is capped at $100,000 or the amount of insurance they have which I do not know the answer to

Are you sure it was a “peckerwood” who shot her? I thought it was a little black boy.

Are you familiar with the case? Tons of negligence going on.

This. The reason why the school is trying to screw her over is because to do otherwise would be to admit gross amounts of negligence by the assistant Principal and Superintendent. This lawsuit proves them both to be responsible.
