They shouldnt. They'd sadly be in physical danger from "great Americans" upon their return to campus...all for merely accepting an invitation to the Trump WH. Sad times. That would be a pretty unique and special event, just being in there, for the majority of those players whose basketball career will cease after college.

The school is increasingly liberal, due to the out of state students, and the unfortunate changes in northern Virginia.
But it’s also the huge administrative bureaucracy, and the rise of the truly dubious departments, like the social sciences.
All of these have changed the school culture.
So it was unlikely that the school would agree to go to the White House. But they didn’t make a scene, like a more northern school would. At least that hasn’t changed.
A school in Boston would have had a protest. And there would have been a poetry reading, the poetry would be ten lines of cursing. Everyone there would feel like they accomplished something very important.
At least we don’t do that.
If you turned back the clock back twenty or thirty years though, before it all changed, you’d still see some reluctance to be seen with Trump. He’s a crass and vulgar upstart, and we’re Virginians, with all the arrogance that comes with that. Aristocrats in our own mind.

If your a Land Grant or a Sea Grant University, and the President invites you to the White House, you get on the fricking bus and go to DC.
