Catholics believe that the soul and the human body are connected and made in the image and likeness of God. Which means the idea that you were “put in the wrong body” and gender ideology is incompatible with the teachings of the church. God doesn’t make mistakes.

So why is this only reflected in 51% of polled Catholics?

To your bold point, the reformed understanding of "salvation" is something I wont argue as I don't believe in it.

Reformed view? Jesus said,” unless a man is born again, he won’t see the kingdom of God.”
How is this a reformed view? I guess you don’t agree with the teachings of Jesus?

Among practicing and involved Catholics, the numbers would be very different.

This thread will run 10 pages easily. Southern baptists like nothing more than to bash another denomination

Back to my first post in this thread. There are a lot of people who identify as Catholics but don’t practice the faith or understand its teachings.

C'mon Catholics wtf are we doing?

Also Jews, what's up?

I suspect you have a large majority of Democratic Catholics who would be more comfortable in the Episcopal branch, but feel loyalty to their Catholic upbringing.

Much as with the Jews. Depends on which sect you are identifying with. Orthodox or Reform.

With Christians, pretty much all of those outside of the Baptist Faith have started rejecting the parts of The Holy Bible that contradict with the Democratic Platform.

I realize there are some Methodist and Lutherans that still adhere to 100% of God's Word also.

But once you deny any part of The Holy Bible, and stop preaching it's contents, you are no longer part of GOD's Kingdom. You are solely preaching from Satan's playbook.

Says who? I'd say it all depends on why they're there. I think anyone who wants to hear the Word of God should be given the opportunity, but not everyone who enters the doors or even stands behind the pulpit is there for the right reasons, and they should be catapulted away AFAIC.

I dont understand how this corresponds with the debate of transgender identity really. Most transgender folks identify as man or woman. Yes there are others but that doesnt seem to be the crux of the debate. The main issue seems to be whether you believe biological sex determines gender identity.

Possibly. It’s also possible they know them and chose to ignore them because other factors take precedent over their faith.

Agreed. But there are a lot of people who say “Jesus said love everyone” and mean “I get to do whatever I want and anyone who disagrees with my beliefs is going against what Jesus taught.”

It’s gross. Everyone should be welcomed to the church. Without question. Open doors, come in and should be embraced. However you don’t get to hijack the teachings and the beliefs to fit a progressive world view.

Yeah that is the crux.
And I can want to be a tiger, but since I was born a man, this too is impossible.

Absolutely. There is certainly a percentage of the 49% where that is the case. However that doesn’t change what is in the catechism

You were born a male but you can identify as a tiger if you want. If you are a legal adult I support you having the choice to get tiger stripe tattoos all over your body and roar down the street till your hearts content. Be brave tiger..you got this!

Atheist Jews still identify with the group. It's an ethnic religion.

They identify with the ethnicity, not the religion.

The point of the poll is to track whether people who have certain religious beliefs trend toward beliefs regarding certain social issues.

If you don't have those religious beliefs, the entire point is moot.

Unless you think someone out there thinks that race/ethnicity alone causes trends in thought relative to social issues.

I think aspects of it are but I dont think accepting the notion of separating biological sex from gender indicates mental illness. Mental illness is hard to define universally.
Many cultures have and do accept sex/gender separation and have multiple genders outside the binary. It doesnt mean they are all suffering from what most would consider mental illness. It also does not mean they are removing body parts to satisfy the gender identity.
