I really don't understand why so many people don't like Trump. They guy truly loves this country and wants the best for it and its people. He is very loyal to the U.S.

Most people are sheep. If they hear they're supposed to dislike someone, they will develop a visceral hatred for him ad be fully convinced they arrived at that conclusion by their own thought process.

Because the majority of young people don't understand loving this country or how great it is to be American.

His actions say otherwise. He loves Trump.

I voted for him twice but one day recently I just had this awakening and started at looking at him differently. He could not give a frick less about America.

Just an FYI, it goes both ways when we have posters who will twist things to favor Trump.

Why didn't Trump release the JFK files implicating the CIA?

DeSantis has been winning real world battles on this. What did Trump accomplish on this? Genuinely curious.

This is a hard transition. Try to fight against the nihilism that may come with it. It’s hard to unplug out of it.

I certainly don’t hate him. I hate losing to Libs. I don’t see anything Trump has done since 2020 to put him in position to win.

To be clear, I would *probably* vote for him again given the terrifying alternative.

But I see him for what he is now.

Yeah this

I don't hate Trump. Will probably have to vote for him again. But I can't wrap my head around people who genuinely believe he's an amazing self-sacrificial patriot who is guided by his love for America and Americans.

He saw an opening to gain an obedient following and - master self-promoter he is - tailored his political ideology to it. He moves his position not based on ideological shift but on what will gain him appreciation and glory. He's a sociopathic narcissist, as are many politicians/celebrities/etc.

I don't think he's that different than most of them, but he gets more loyalty/love than most of them. When Trump dies, some people will come out with "nice" anecdotes about him doing something for them. I don't think there will be a line of people to tell us how Trump picked them up at their lowest point, had a kind word for them at the most awful time in their life, etc. etc. And of course, few politicians are like that. But again, few politicians have 10s of millions of people adoring them and following in their every step.

In writing this I thought "are there any politicians like that" and my best guess is that of the ones we're talking about in this cycle, Tim Scott might be a person like that. Doesn't mean he should be President, but just throwing it out.

Interesting perspective that I continue to hear from a lot of people.
Also hearing if the choice is person A or B, I am not voting.

Trump's recent comments and hard left shift have me at times teetering on the edge of just not voting if he got the nom, but I really cannot stomach 8 years of Biden so my brain will hopefully win the battle. I just hope it doesn't come to that.

Have we reached a point politically in this country, though, where that might be preferable to almost any other possible alternative?

I mean that compass (assuming that's what it was) was actually guiding us pretty well until March 2020.

No other republican in any one here's lifetime has governed purely from an ideological perspective, and it seems folly to think there might be one who will.

Also, is it ever not going to be preferable to whatever will be guiding a democratic alternative? Seems it certainly would. Even post March 2020, there can't be a democrat you would have preferred there.
