Are you serious? That cop was well within his right to pop a cap on that guy.

I’m 80% in agreement with this. I have seen a couple - 1 in particular - of “he was trying to run over me” shootings that didn’t sit well with me.

I'm honestly okay with shooting someone running from the cops in a vehicle under most circumstances. They're a danger to everyone on the road. No innocent person deserves to be hit by them while they're trying to evade arrest.

Sums it all up.

Except covered by AP, Wash Post, CBS NEWS, abc news, San Fran Chronicle, etc

The victimhood is strong with you guys.

Btw, where does it say he was illegal?

There was a passenger. Not sure I think that is the best maneuver.

The cop unloaded on him because he was light skinned.

If you believe otherwise, you're a moron.

I'd like to add my 2 cents by saying I hope the cop exploded that dude's head. The law isn't your friend. It's their to frick you in the arse when you do something wrong. And frick anyone who says it was a bad shoot. The dirtbag had ample time to stop and comply long before the cop pulled his gun.

If you pause the video at 40 seconds, you’ll see the cop in front of the vehicle, weapon drawn, and the vehicle had not moved forward.

The first few frames at :40, the cop isn’t even in the frame. He jumps in front of the car at the same time as the driver accelerates. By :42, the driver is shot.

Always good to have people announce when their opinion shouldn’t be paid any mind.

Yeah a driverless car at speed courtesy of your local police department is probably not a scenario they would prefer to consider. Perhaps in the very limited circumstance wherein driver has a gun and apparent intent to use it, or driver has been observed intentionally going after pedestrians....it would perhaps ne considered at absolute last option. Very very rare.

Oh, and friendly fire, that's probably another reason not one law enforcement agency in this country gives it the go ahead. Amongst other reasons.

If you are wielding a deadly weapon (in this case, a car) while fleeing from police, I hope they shoot you. Especially in a populated area.

The fact that they are being killed at such alarming rates only shows that they are probably being too considerate.

By alarming rate, you mean essentially the lowest rate in my lifetime... and I'm damn near 40.

By alarming rate, I mean way too damn many. I don’t care if it’s more or less than the last 40 years. I can’t wrap my head around someone being so damn depraved that they think killing a cop who is trying to arrest them is acceptable. No doubt, there are bad cops. But the overwhelming majority of them just want to do their job, and go home to their family. frick a criminal who puts their criminal activity and their freedom above the lives of people trying to protect the public from them.

The cop knew this was a felony traffic stop with a high percentage the perp would run.

If he didn’t, I’m guessing the running after the initial stop let the cat out of the bag. If not, continuing to flee after being pitted, further endangering not only the officers lives but also the public, surely told him so. Not sure what that has to do with the fact that the driver drove his car at a police officer.
