She is generally nonsensical. I agree that Cummings is a horrible representative and probably corrupt but what she is saying is that he’s bad because he’s NOT giving away enough free stuff.

Yes you are probably right. Not trying to race bait. I have read about the strong effect jim crow had on migration at that time. Bottom line, many blacks came to Detroit for work or to find a better life and the population boomed.

It has been pointed out that something like 9 public schools haven't produced a graduate with a literacy rate above 7th or 8th grade.

Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, New York, Philadelphia and St Louis were the big destinations and actually recruited blacks off the farms in the Delta to their Northern factories as cheap labor, which was perhaps slightly less exploitative than sharecropping.
In the 1930's tractors were slowly replacing the mule, a delta plantation that required 50 mules to be farmed along with mule drivers and attendants could now be managed by 5 tractor drivers, some Delta plantations were running up to an unbelievable 2,000 mules complete with drivers and attendants.
The end of WW2 saw the mule relegated to the history bin as almost no one used them anymore. The advent of synthetic fabrics and expansion of planted cotton areas overseas did not help either
In 1900 there were more people in MS than in Cali, by 1950 over 1 million people had migrated out, primarily from the Delta.

However the vast majority were displaced economic migrants, this was before the advent of the Great Society when if you did not work you did not eat.
I kept this confined to MS but the exact same diaspora was occurring in the AR and LA Delta regions albeit on a smaller scale.
