Wait, the VA's OWN WEBSITE says that patient satisfaction is GREAT?

That's a shocker -- and not the GOOD kind of shocker.

"Thomas Breen was so proud of his time in the Navy that he wanted to be treated only at a VA facility, his family says."

Well this guy is an idiot. VA has a priority list service connected illness, service connected disabled, POW's, etc, get priority over a guy who served 18 months left healthy, has a good income and other insurance.

VA is rated very highly by the consumers that use it, it does a lot of things very well, but appointment time varies from hospital to hospital and specialty needed,

I've got VA, Medicare (edited) and Tricare and I prefer to use VA even without a hospital in NO, and I am not a liberal, and VA isn't the AHCA, it is a niche that works very well in my case IMHO.

Who do you think would be screaming if forty death row inmates had been neglected and had died for need of health care?

I'd venture to guess that most of those rankings come from retires who have only had Tricare their entire adult lives and don't know there's better coverage out there. I've seen it with people here at Fort Gordon who don't know how bad their system is until they're either 1) out, or 2) they get to go to a civilian doctor for something.

They don't know how bad they have it, so they think they're satisfied.

The fact of the matter is they ARE satisfied and that means a lot more to me than anecdotes on this message board.

a poll on a website means more than actual info?

I'd venture to guess that you are unaware that tricare sends you to civilian doctors. Tricare isn't the Army hosptial at Ft Gordon. I'd also venture to guess you are the type of dumb arse conservative that thinks they know better what is good for people than those people know for themselves.

I am not trying to be a jerk but have you examined the actual study? Seriously? They surveyed a little over 500 respondants nationwide? How many Veterans are using the VAMC on an inpatient and outpatient basis throughout the United States?

I have worked with some exceptional folks from the VA's across the U.S. and with some folks who should not be treating anyone at all. Back to this bullshite study...

Was this sample representative? NOPE
Were they combat or noncombat Veterans? DOES NOT SPECIFY
Service connected? DOES NOT SPECIFY
Outpatient or inpatient? DOES NOT SPECIFY
Male or female? DOES NOT SPECIFY
Ethnicity? DOES NOT SPECIFY
Did quality of treatment match satisfaction level?
DOES NOT SPECIFY

Did you know that most LEGITIMATE RESEARCH AND SURVEYS of individuals served by the VAMC show a generally downward trend in satisfaction with wide variation based on race, gender, outpatient or inpatient care, hx of mental illness, and combat experience?

I did not think so. Next time you try to post something to have a GOTCHA moment I suggest you do not simply assume that the source is trustworthy. A little over 500 respondants is equal to a non-representative sample of satisfied customers who are happy to respond.

Paluka.

I know all about statistics, 500 is more than enough people to get a more or less accurate result.

I'm very pleased to hear that the VA in NOLA is doing a good job.

Did you make a mistake and write "Medicaid" instead of "Medicare" ?

Apparently not when the sample is not representative. You fail again.

Obama loves the Cuban healthcare sys and and we are heading there...

only heads of state get the care they need without traveling incredible distances or waiting forever for care....except for those who can bribe the doctors "behind the wall" as it were , with dollars.

Great doctors in terms of intelligence and knowledge, but waaaaay overworked and waaaay underpaid , leading to the poor care.....likely the result we will get if we keep lowering the re-reimbursements to doctors

from the Cuban newspaper
At the high end, doctors with two specialties will see their salary go from the equivalent of $26 a month to $67, while an entry-level nurse will make $25, up from $13.

Exactly. One of the most unscientific "studies" I've seen yet he cites it as the absolute truth. Total garbage.

And? The VA is a clusterfrick. The WWII, Korean War combat vets I had the privilege to work with during my residency always told me "you have 2 chances to die for your country... One is in combat and the second is while being treated at the VA."

Since you love Japan so much why don't you find some of their WWII vets and ask them why their practice was to behead U.S. Marines that were captured? Why'd they do that with machetes? With all the love you spew about the Japanese and how great they are you are still an outsider to them and always will be.

Wow! WTF!!

Were you a POW during WWII or somethin'?

I just made a simple factual statement that the government run health care system in Japan works. That is all.
